20368 The May 18, 1921, edition of the Fergus Falls Ugeblad, a Norwegian language newspaper, records her as graduating in the “Classical Course” of some school whose name can’t be determined by me (probably a high school). Her second cousin Myrtle Bye was recorded in the same article as graduating in that school’s “Commercial Course.”

She “teaches in Sauk Centre” according to her mother’s obituary.

In the 1930 census, she was living at home with her father and younger sister in Fergus Falls. Mildred was a public school teacher.

In the 1931 Fergus Falls city directory, she is a teacher and boards with her father and step-mother at 323 Bancroft.

In the 1935/36 Fergus Falls city directory, she is a teacher and boards with father and step-mother at 323 Bancroft Avenue.

In the 1940 census, Henry and Mildred live in Sauk Centre. Henry is a barber.

She is not the child whose birth certificate is 1904-18606.

At the time of her step-mother’s death, for which she was the informant, she was Mrs. Henry Thielen of 727 Birch Street in Sauk Centre.

Ethel Peterson of Chicago was the informant for Mildred’s death certificate. Mildred died of septicemia from a chronic urinary tract infection.

20369 The Maynard community was saddened on Thursday evening, August 1st, by the announcement that Marguerite Lien had passed away at the Montevideo hospital, after an illness of but a few hours.

Her death was the result of cerebral hemorrhage, the symptoms indicating her ailment becoming manifest shortly before noon.She lapsed into a coma about three o'clock. The doctor was called and she was immediately rushed to Montevideo hospital, where everything possible was done for her with out avail. She never regained consciousness.

She was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Lien, she was born in Maynard on November 28, 1931, died August 1st, 1946.Her age being 14 years, 8 months and 3 days.

She was a member of the Maynard Lutheran Church, very active in the Sunday school, the choir, the Lutherans daughters of Fermentation and the Luther League and on June 9th this year she was a member of the Confirmation class of Fourteen.

She was looking forward to the approaching school year with avid interest having finished her Freshman course last year with high standings and about to enter the Sophomore year with her classmates.

She was a young lady of exceptional merit, popular among her classmates, and loved and respected by all with whom she came in contact with.

Funeral services were conducted from the home at 1:45 and at the Maynard Lutheran Church at 2:00p.m. on Monday, August 5th.

Internment occurred in the Maynard Lutheran cemetery.

Pallbearers were; Willard Anderson, Dean Eggen, Gene Fransen, John Peterson, LaVere Ulvik, and Virgil Eckhoff.
It is fitting that she should be accompanied to her final resting place by these her loving friends and classmates.
She leaves to mourn her parents, sister Lois and brother James.

20370 The McGrews lived near Bill and Viv in the early 40s when Bill and Viv lived in south Minneapolis. In the 1940 Minneapolis city directory, he and Ada lived at 4157 43rd Avenue S. He was Secretary-Treasurer of McGrew’s Hosiery Shops, Inc.

Bob McGrew lived on Shepard Rd in St. Paul in 1986.
