The day of her birth, according to the 1866 confirmation record for Brandval, appears to be either 7 Apr, 17 Apr, or 27 Apr. That same record spells her surname as Brandvold, her native farm.

The records of the Norway Lake Lutheran churches in Kandiyohi County show that Julia came to Norway Lake in 1883.
