She was Rosalie Nass of McVille at the time of her brother Merle’s death in 2018.
Not mentioned as a survivor of her half-sister Margaret Barnes who died in 2023.
Rosalie Doris (Bunde) Naas, 87, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Nelson County Health System Hospital in McVille, ND. Rosalie was born April 5, 1936, at their farm home north of McVille to Oscar and Ruth (Doud) Bunde. Rosalie was the 5th of 8 children. She learned early in life to work hard and to be satisfied with what she had. She was very positive, enthusiastic and grateful for all the blessings in her life.
Rosalie attended country school in Center Township. Then in 1947 the family moved to McVille where she attended McVille Public School graduating in 1954. Rosalie married Tracy Naas on June 12, 1955, at the McVille Lutheran Church. Rosalie and Tracy settled on the farm by Kloten where they farmed and raised four children. She liked to stay busy and was very much at home in her kitchen making homemade bread, donuts and traditional Norwegian foods like lefse, flatbread, and cream bread. Her family enjoyed these treats and she always made enough extra to give to neighbors and friends. Rosalie was very caring and generous with her time and talents. She enjoyed making quilts for hours on end to give away to under privileged people she would never meet.
On the farm, in addition to all the household tasks, she still found time to raise a garden, enjoying the produce and canning the excess in the fall. At harvest time you could find her behind the wheel of a grain truck hauling grain to town or unloading at the farm in grain bins.
She seldom complained and was more concerned about others than herself. Her patience and kindness were unending never expecting anything in return.
Rosalie was a loving, caring and deeply religious woman always willing to give of her time and talents to anyone in need. Rosalie taught Sunday School, was a 4-H Leader and was involved in many other ways in the community. After her children were grown Rosalie enjoyed driving school bus for many years for McVille Schools. Rosalie helped take care of grandchildren and enjoyed games, camping, skiing, fishing, and bonfires on the farm. Rosalie & Tracy lived most of their life on the farm near McVille, and spent many winters in Weslaco, TX with friends and family.
Rosalie is survived by her children, Dean Naas, Golden, CO, Duane (Christine) Naas, Thompson, ND, Norean (Gary) Hoots, Moorhead, MN, and Terry (Karen) Naas, Grand Forks, ND; her nine grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Naas, Bismarck, ND, Tom (Whitney) Naas, Bismarck, ND, Andy (Hannah) Naas, Grand Forks, ND, Kayla (Christopher) Evenson, Mapleton, ND, Brian (Angela) Hoots, Fargo, ND, Kevin (Jada) Hoots, Fargo, ND, Michael (Taylor) Hoots, Kalispell, MT, Nikki (Keith) Thorsgard, McVille, ND, and John (Emily) Naas, Argusville, ND; and by 18 great-grandchildren.
