She was a WAC in WWII. She enlisted in June of 1943 and served until January of 1946.

Oddly, although Helma did live to be over 100, there was an article in the 17 Oct 1989 edition of the La Crosse Tribune that had a photo of the twins, Helen and Helma, celebrating their 100th birthday! Sadly, Helen did not make it to 100.

Helen had no children.

She was a widow in the 1900 census. She lived in Wang Twp, Renville County, Minnesota, with her daughter and two sons. According to that census, she came to the U.S. in 1866.

In the 1910 census, she had her son Christ lived in Wang Twp. Her married son Olaf lived next door.

She was Adah Rinn, a nurse at Northfield City Hospital, when she married Myron Ellingboe.

The Northfield News’s May 20, 1948 edition mentioned her promotion to Superintendent, Northfield Hospital.

Mrs. Myron Ellingboe, 60, of 3175 E. 71st St., Inver Grove Heights, died Thursday at Miller Hospital, St. Paul. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in St. Timothy Lutheran Church, St. Paul, with the Rev. Orville K. Wold officiating. Interment will be in Vang Lutheran Cemetery, Dennison. Visitation will be in Boldt Funeral Home Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday in English & Meeker Funeral Home, South St. Paul, from 3 to 8 p.m., and at the church one hour before services. Mrs. Adah Delphine Ellingboe, daughter of Arno and Alma Lechelt Jenner, was born July 18, 1918, at Nerstrand. She married Myron Ellingboe Jan. 10, 1948, at Olivia. Mrs. Ellingboe was a registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband: one son, William, of Fountain Valley, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
