Thorne, Arlene S. (Johnson) Age 75, of Edina. A beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend found peace, surrounded by her family, on September 3rd, 2012 after a short, and hard-fought, battle with brain cancer. Born in Cannon Falls, MN on June 4th, 1937. Preceded in death by father, Arnold; mother, Sally. Arlene is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Terri (Jay) Cope; grandchildren, Hannah and Ben Cope of Shorewood; son, Jeff (Angie) Quale and grandsons, Dylan and Justin Quale of Minnetonka; sister, Marilyn (Bruce) Kabot of Green Valley, AZ; brother, Jerome (Jan) Johnson of Cannon Falls. Arlene is also survived by nieces, nephews and many beloved cousins around southern Minnesota along with Bob's children, Sarah (Brant) Johnson and Erik (Amy) Thorne. A 1955 graduate of Cannon Falls HS, Arlene worked for many years as an Executive Assistant, most recently at FiServ. After retiring, Arlene found a new passion, making jewelry. As word got out, Arlene's hobby grew into a small business and she started selling her jewelry at Boutiques, Art Shows and several retail stores. She loved creating and using the most beautiful, natural and semi-precious stones and beads to make unique and artistic creations. Arlene's favorite activity was attending her grandchildren's, activities - sporting events, concerts, and their birthday lunches. Arlene enjoyed spending time with the "YaYa's" and the wonderful women and work of the West Suburban Women's Club. Arlene was also known for her extraordinary baking skills. Arlene enjoyed many memorable trips both in the U.S. and Europe. Special thanks to the Methodist Hospital Hospice and LifeSpark Hospice teams. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012, 2:00 pm at Lakewood Memorial Chapel with a reception following at Lakewood Garden Center.
