18871 She is I8781 in Jim’s VS.

Although she is illegitimate, her parents later married.

Anders Olsen Kattevold was her “responsible person” or principal sponsor at her baptism. That Andris (I1993 in Jim’s VS) was gaardbrukar of Kattevold 45/ Øvre at the time of Randi Erichdatter’s birth. Other baptismal sponsors listed for Randi were: Niels Nielsen Böe, Christopher Tostensen Kattevold, Margrethe Christopherdatter Kattevold, and Anne Johannesdatter Böe.

There was no other Randi Eriksdatter shown as born in Vang around 1838. Randi’s parents, Erich Christopherssen Qvale, age 36, and the maiden Kjersti Endresdatter Kattevold, age 26, later married in Vang on 7 Jun 1842. For this marriage his father was Christopher Tostenson and her father was Endre Thronsen.

Quite incorrectly, Jim’s VS shows this Randi marrying Andris Thomassen Høyne, b. 1830, and having four children with him between 1857 and 1862 in Vestre Slidre.

In the 1865 Norwegian census, Rangdi Eriksdatter, age 28, seamstress, and her daughter Berit Jakopsdatter, age 5, both born in Vang, were lodgers on the Anders Olsen farm on Søndrebøe østre 37/ in the Hoved Sogn subparish in the Vang parish.

Blazing Car Takes 2 Lives

A couple believed to be man and wife was killed in a flaming two-car accident on the Sunset Highway near 75th Avenue Friday night. Four other people injured in the crash were reported in good or fair condition in Portland hospitals Saturday morning.

The dead were identified by Dr. James H. Stewart, Washington County Medical examiner, as Virgil Bruce Eddings, 23, and Margaret Rose Eddings, 17, of Cornelius.

The dead couple was riding in the front seat of a sedan with a man driving, when it and another sedan collided in the west-bound lane of the divided highway. Early police reports indicated that one of the two cars was either making a turn or going the wrong way.

The death car burst into flames after the impact and the driver and front-seat passenger were burned severely, officers said.
TASA, Margaret Rose (I44182)

18876 She is incorrectly shown as Ragndi Eriksdatter Kvåle, I8781, in Jim’s VS. Jim’s Ellingboe tree does not show the parents of Erik Anderson Ellestad, the man he shows in that tree as Rose’s father.

However, the marriage record shows her as Randi Eriksdatter, age 22 of Qvale, daughter of Erik Iversen.

Rose said that Rangdi “didn’t take” to Rose because she, Rose, “didn’t look like them.” That may be why Ann was sent to replace Rose in the later 19-oughts. Apparently, however, Rose stayed to help on Andrew’s and Rangdi’s farm for a year and a half (1907-1908) and then Ann came for another year and a half. It was while Rose was helping out on the farm that she met Ole Ellingboe. She “worked another summer” and then, presumably, married Ole.

Also known as Randi (on her death certificate) or Rande. Buried as Randi Thompson.

In the 1920 census, she is living in Minneapolis at 1406 E. 22nd Street with her daughter Mary Willson and family. She is shown as 88 years old and having come to this country in 1877, naturalized as a citizen in 1885.

Spent her last years at 3338 Oakland Avenue S., Minneapolis, in the home of her daughter, Mary Willson.

Evey has a formal family photograph taken, probably, in the ‘teens that contains Rangdi with children Betsy, John, Johan, Mary, Erick, Knute, Belle, and Thomas.
KVÅLE, Rangdi Eriksdatter (I222)

18877 She is Ingebjør Jonsdatter Onstad, I40967, in Jim’s VS, no husband or children shown.

She was born on Onstad 35/1 Nedre in Øystre Slidre according to Jim’s VS. The birth record shows Rogne sokn.

May be the Ingeborg Johnsdatter, age 61 and a widow, living with her son John Eriksson, age 22 and unmarried, on the Storeqvale farm in Lomen in the 1865 census.
ONSTAD, Ingeborg Jonsdatter (I1740)

18878 She is Ingebjørg Eivindsdatter Frigstad, I1656, in Jim’s VS. FRIGSTAD, Ingeborg Evensdatter (I23981)

18879 She is Ingebjørg Kristoffersdatter Berge, I174, in Jim’s VS. BERGE, Ingebjørg Kristoffersdatter (I22999)

18880 She is Ingeleiv Ingvaldsdatter Wangensteen, I1403, in Jim’s VS.

Jim’s notes:

STELE, Ingeleiv Ingvaldsdotter (I2423)
