The 1900 census shows her emigrating to the U. S. in 1885. She had had 3 children, all 3 still living. The Vang church book shows her leaving Vang in June of 1885. She was referred to in the emigration record as Ingeborg Aslaksdatter Kattevold (Ellingbö).

A comment on one of the genealogy boards calls her Ingeborg Hanson of North Dakota.

Some sources erroneously ascribe her mother as a different woman, Randi Olsdatter Brækken.

A large article in the 28 Sep 1904 edition of the Minneapolis Times described Harriet’s “summer tour through Alaska.” Harriet claimed that the scenery along the White Pass Railroad surpassed the Rockies or even the Alps.

In the 1905 Minnesota census, she was Harriet P. N. Smith living at 18 Royalston Avenue in Minneapolis. That census shows her born in Connecticut to parents born in Connecticut. Harriet had lived at the Royalston address for 6 years and 1 month.

In the 1909 Minneapolis city directory, she is Harriet P N Smith, identified as the widow of Seagrave, living at 1770 Emerson Ave S.

She is not listed as living in Minnesota in the 1910 census.

A Norton family history says that her parents were Isaac Ives Norton and Nancy Elmina Marcy. Of Harriet it says that her first husband was Alvert Norton, a distant cousin and a native of Blandford, Massachusetts. By him she had three children, all of whom died young.

An article in the Minneapolis Morning Tribune on 10 Nov 1917 notes that, at her death, Harriet’s estate was valued at $323,648. The article notes that the estate paid inheritance taxes of $19,818 to the state of Minnesota. The largest bequests were to Harriet’s sister, Fannie Robinson, nephew, and niece. It’s not clear whether any of Seagrave’s children received any portion of Harriet’s estate.
