Eileen Marie (Nundahl) Mikkelson
Westby, Wis. — Eileen Marie (Nundahl) Mikkelson passed away Thursday, July 14, 2005, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua, Wis., from complications following surgery.
She was born in Vernon County to Carl and Mearl (Crook) Nundahl on Sept. 4, 1922. On Feb. 26, 1941, she married Lawrence Mikkelson. Eileen's family was the center of her life and she grandly served her Lord by working hard for and loving her family of 10 children, 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Her grandchildren were always welcomed into this world with a sweater, cap and booties that she had lovingly knitted for each as she awaited their arrival. And as they grew, they were the recipients of wonderful big bear hugs from Grandma whenever they came into her presence. She so enjoyed attending their activities and athletic events.
Eileen worked many years cooking for the residents and later keeping records for the Vernon County Manor. After her retirement from there, she managed and ran the family business all the while caring for her disabled son. Once her family was raised, she returned to her love of baseball by attending Milwaukee Brewer games. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas with her friends.
Eileen is survived by her daughters, Elaine (Jerry) DeWitt, Bonnie (Norman) Bousman, Cheryl (John) Nelson, all of Westby, and Patricia (Roger) Potts, La Crosse, Vicki (Lonnie) Christianson, Coon Valley; and sons, Randy and Kent (Renae), of Westby, and Kurt of Viroqua.
