LaVaughn Emma Naomi Benson BlagsvedtAge 87 of Rushford, MN, died peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Valley View Healthcare Center, Houston, MN.

LaVaughn was born April 1, 1928 in Houston County, MN to Gilbert and Emma (Traaen) Vick. LaVaughn grew up in Lanesboro and lived her adult life in Rushford. She had 4 sisters; Gladys, Verna, Evelyn, and Norma and 4 brothers; Nels, Clifford, Norman, and Clifton. She married Vernon Benson and was blessed with 6 children; Terry (Linda) Benson of Rhode Island, Sheila Cheeks of Winona, Dennis (Pat) Benson of Fountain City, Duane Benson of Winona, Kenneth (Carol) Benson of Rushford, and Nancy Benson of Winona.

LaVaughn was very dedicated to her family, work, and organizations. She was the second person hired at Rush Products and worked there for 29 years until she retired in 1993. After retirement she volunteered as a driver for SEMCAC for another 15 years. She was also active in the Women's Auxiliary at the VFW and she loved to dance with her sister Norma.

LaVaughn is survived by her 6 children, 11 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon; second husband Milford Blagsvedt; her 8 siblings, and her special granddaughter, Teresa (Benson) Knutson.

Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Monday, October 26 at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service with a Funeral Service Tuesday October, 27 at 11 AM at Rushford Lutheran Church. Interment at Rushford Lutheran Cemtery.

Opal Wahlstrom, 79, of rural Pelican Rapids, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, peacefully and surrounded by her family at the Good Samaritan Center in Pelican Rapids.
?She was born Aug. 10, 1927, to Oscar and Elsie (Oechsel) Rosengren in Fergus Falls. She attended Fergus Falls High School and worked various jobs in Fergus Falls before her marriage. On Dec. 14, 1956, she was united in marriage to Harold O. Wahlstrom in Pelican Rapids.
?Opal spent almost her entire life working with nature and animals, helping her husband raise strawberries and raspberries at Wahlstrom Berry Farm in Maplewood Township near Pelican Rapids, and taking care of a number of pets.
?She was mother to Maureen (Bruce) Johnson of rural Pelican Rapids and Nancy (Jay T.) Olson of Fergus Falls, and grandmother to Taylor, Bailey and Connor Olson, all of Fergus Falls.
?Opal was a member of Central Lutheran Church. She made numerous friends from all over the country who came every year for strawberries and raspberries. She immensely enjoyed being outside, working with her hands, talking with everyone who came to their farm, reading and doing word puzzles. She loved her family very much and was so very proud of her grandsons. She was also proud of her German heritage and her work ethic. She was kind to animals and loved her cats, especially Dolly.
?Opal was a survivor, having lived during the Great Depression, having fought cancer and other illnesses and rarely complaining about anything. She loved being on the farm and having her family with her. She will be greatly missed.
?Opal was preceded in death by her parents; and all of her siblings: Clinton, Robert, Earl, LeRoy, Bud, Ruby, Pearl and Ruth.
?She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harold Wahlstrom, rural Pelican Rapids; daughters, Maureen (Bruce) Johnson of rural Pelican Rapids, and Nancy (Jay T.) Olson of Fergus Falls; grandsons: Taylor, Bailey and Connor Olson, all of Fergus Falls; brother-in-law, Kenneth Wahlstrom; numerous nieces and nephews; and a lot of friends.
