In the 1940 census, she was “Bessie M” Holgate, 34, the wife of Frank H Holgate, and the mother of L. Joyce, 10, and Frank C., 7. The couple lived in Sutherlin, Douglas County, Oregon, where the senior Frank was the janitor of a public school.

The U.S. Public Records Index has her address as 473 SW Murray Blvd, Beaverton, Oregon, in 1992.

Her Social Security number had been issued in Oregon.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 1995, in the Beaverton Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she was a member.

Mrs. Bye died June 21 of causes related to age. She was 89.

She was born Dec. 5, 1905, in Oakland. Her maiden name was Luchterhand.

Her husband, Johnny, died in 1976.

Survivors include her daughter, Joyce West of Dillard; son, Frank Holgate of Fallbrook, Calif.; brother, Charles Luchterhand of Mulino; sisters, Ada Shepherd of Portland and Pauline Aaen of Federal Way, Wash.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Lillian Holgate married Donald West in Douglas County on 12 Jun 1949.
