In the 1910 census, she lives in Valley County, Montana, in the Bainville School District, apparently alone. Her occupation is shown as odd jobs in general farming.

In the 1930 census, she is Ella C Torger, a 63 year-old single woman living in Bainville. She is the owner of a millinery shop.

The bygdebok, p. 196, says that she married Ola Olsen Grøv in 1869 and the couple came to the U.S. where they went by the name of Grove. She had two children in Norway, according to bygdebok: Ola in 1864, and Berit in 1866.
