17802 She had a sister-in-law Jean Gadwa, then age 22 and married, who was living with Rosalie and Clifford in the 1930 census. That Jean had been born in Russia and had come to the U.S. in 1920 so she was probably the wife of Rosalie’s brother. GADWA, Rosalie J (I14624)

17803 She had a son, Håvard, with the widower Håvard Jørnsson Søre-Bø 14 Oct 1843. That son died in 1844. ELLINGBØ, Anne Evensdatter (I21650)

In the 1920 census, she was a college student. From an article in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, February 20, 1948, edition, we can infer that that college was Vassar. “Mrs. Jean McLean Pratt” is pictured with the president of Vassar College and Mrs. Pratt is noted as the president of the local Vassar club. According to the 1930 census, her father was born in French Canada and her mother in Pennsylvania.

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune’s November 6, 1939, edition noted that “Mrs. Jean McLean Pratt and children will occupy the McKinley {sic} Kanter home on Siesta Key for the winter.” (The correct spelling is MacKinlay Kantor, the author of “Andersonville.”)

An article in The Greece Press (Greece, N.Y.) dated October 20, 1944, Mrs, Jean McLean Pratt as listed as a judge of an essay contest on the use of “pin money” sponsored by the Women’s Division of the War Finance Committee for Monroe County.

The March 14, 1947, edition of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle includes a picture of Mrs. Jean McLean Pratt as a member of the Century Club.
