Registered for the WWI draft as Edward Morris Williams (b. July 22, 1889), an auto mechanic living in Cedar Rapids, IA, on June 5, 1917. At that time he was married with a child.

In the 1920 census, E. M. Williams, 30, was living with his father and sister at 173 West 43rd Street in Los Angeles. With E. M. was his 29 year old wife, Gerlinda, and their 5 year old daughter, Dorothy C., Edwin is a manager at a “dye works.” His wife was also born in Wisconsin and, like E. M., her father was born in Wisconsin and her mother in Minnesota.

In the 1930 census, he is is shown as Edward M. Williams, 40, a garage mechanic living with his family in Los Angeles County, San Antonio township, city of South Gate. The address appears to be 8162 San Luis Avenue. Still only one child, Dorothy C., 15, still living with her parents.

In the 1940 census, he and Gertrude live in a rented residence in Alhambra in San Gabriel Twp, Los Angeles County, California. He is an auto repair mechanic. He is a high school graduate, Gertrude had had three years of high school.

He registered for the World War II draft as Edward Morris Williams of Alhambra, California. He gave Gertrude, his wife, as the person who would always know his address. He was employed by Mead Motors of San Gabriel.

Died as Edward Morris Williams.

The Wisconsin Births Index shows an Edward M. Williams born in Waupaca County on July 22, 1889.

In the 1940 census, he is Oley Berge (mis-indexed in Ancestry as Booge) living on his father’s farm in Liberty Twp.

Referred to in Olene Reinertson Dick’s obit as her first cousin. He was actually her uncle.

Norma Elaine Nelson, 88, of Viroqua, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at the Norseland Nursing Home in Westby, where she had been a resident since April 2011.

She was born in Vernon County on Nov. 26, 1925, to Elmer and Inga (Tollackson) Christianson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church as rural Viroqua. She graduated from Viroqua High School and then attended beauty school in La Crosse. On April 28, 1951, she married Alvin Nelson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in La Crosse. They farmed in the town of Kickapoo, rural Readstown, and she also worked several years as a beautician. Alvin died on Dec. 21, 1982. She was a member of the Bethesda Lutheran Brethren Church in Westby.

Norma is survived by one son, Michael “Mike” Nelson of Westby; sister-in-law, Allene Christianson of Viroqua; other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and six brothers, Telmer, Donald, Orville, Olaf, Elmer, Jr. and Alvin Christianson.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua with Pastor Paul Tjelta officiating. Burial was in the Kickapoo Lutheran Church Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were Marcus Christianson, Ryan Christianson, Daryl Christianson, Barry Christianson, Steve Thurin and Thor Thorson.

In the 1950 census, she and Charles and Sheila lived in Charlotte, North Carolina. Charles was a locomotive inspector for the interstate commerce commission. She was a church secretary.

She and Charles lived in Denver at the time of Sheila’s death in 1974. They were also there at the time of her brother Carl’s death in 1981.

Dee Austring found him in the 1865 census at Rosvold søndre farm, Verdal, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, as a “13yo Tjenestekarl.”

In the 1875 census, he was at Storøren gård #265, Verdal, Nord-Trøndelag, Norway, and was a “Telegrafarbeider.”

Sven Tore shows Elisæus Martin’s occupation as “Jernbanearbeider, banevokter.”

In the 1900 census, Elesius Bye and his family lived in Krigshaugen in Meråker, Nord-Trøndelag. His family consisted of Eleseus, b. 1853, Mali, b. 1863, Anna, b. 1881, Johan Edvard, b. 1884, Karl Marius, b. 1887, Emil, b. 1891, Manda Emelie, b. 1895, Elfrida Mathilde, b. 1897, and Olga Marie, b. 3.11.1899. Eleseus was a banevogter (railroad watchman). Johan Edvard was a day laborer at the train station. Mali and all of their children had been born in Meråker.

In the 1910 Norwegian census, as Elisæus Bye, he and his wife and their five youngest children live in the Katrinevold residence (19/50) in Værdalen. His occupation is jernbanevogter (train station watchman?), jordbruker.

Chris Swanson’s Swanson Family Tree has him dying in 1939.

A. Elizabeth "Beth" Agar 86 of Devils Lake, ND died on Monday, January 30, 2006 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.

Funeral Services for Elizabeth will be held on Monday, February 6, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake. Rev. Roger Leonhardt will officiate.

Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Audrey Elizabeth Isaacson was born on August 13, 1919 in Underwood, ND to Swedish immigrants, Anton Lawrence Isaacson and Esther Lydia (Swanson) Isaacson. In 1930, they moved to Devils Lake and her father built the house at 708 5th Street. This is where Elizabeth and her siblings would live their childhood and Elizabeth would spend most of her adult life too.

Elizabeth was united in marriage to Lyle S. Nelson on January 26, 1935 in Devils Lake where they made their home until 1942 when they moved to Dayton, Ohio. In 1946, they returned to Devils Lake where Elizabeth lived the rest of her life. Mr. Nelson died May 31, 1967.

She married Finley Agar on February 7, 1968 at Aberdeen, South Dakota. Mr. Agar died in 1985. Elizabeth worked at Manns Department Store in yard goods and alterations from 1949 until 1963. Beth was the first woman radio broadcaster of "Coffee Time" broadcast from Manns everyday, Monday through Friday. Elizabeth was an accomplished seamstress and sewed the drapes for the School for the Deaf. Sewing was a pasttime of Elizabeth's for many years and she accomplished her trade on an old fashioned Singer sewing machine. She also loved to knit and crochet. She was a talented writer and wrote several short stories for women's magazines. Since the 1960's, Elizabeth's friend Charles "Bud" Wittkop used the garage at 708 5th Street for his mechanic and repair shop and his clients were always welcomed into Elizabeth's home for coffee and cookies while the details of what needed to be done to repair the automobile were discussed. For the past 20 years, Elizabeth and Bud have looked after each other.

Elizabeth was a friend to everyone and generous in thought and deed. She cared deeply for her family and friends and for all the people of Devils Lake. Those sparkling eyes and caring smile will be greatly missed.

Elizabeth is survived by her children: Lyle A. Nelson, Devils Lake, Philip S. Nelson, North Bend, Oregon, Mark E. Nelson of McMinnville, Orgeon, Ten Grandchildren, Many Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren, Sister: Nancy Lee Barnwell of Houston, Texas Special Friend: Bud Wittkop, Devils Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lyle Nelson and Finley Agar; daughter, Margaret Ann "Peggy" Sondeland; brother, Jerrold Isaacson and Anton Isaacson; sister, Mavis J. Carder.

She died from lung cancer at Memorial Hospital in Cambridge. Her usual residence was Bethel. Her daughter, Mrs. James A Goodman, of 1911 Menlo Drive in Corvallis, Oregon, was the informant for her death certificate.
