He and Betty were living in Fergus Falls at the time of his mother’s death and at the time of his sister Delores’s death.
Alan Bye, 74, of Fergus Falls, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at his home under the care of hospice.
Alan was born on Nov. 26, 1938, in Fergus Falls, the son of Julian and Viola (Beller) Bye. He was confirmed at Vukku Lutheran Church in Foxhome and attended Fergus Falls High School.
Alan faithfully served his country in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged.
On Nov. 30, 1963, he married Betty J. Simonson at Vukku Lutheran Church in Foxhome.
Alan worked on his brother-in-law’s farm after marriage. He later drove truck for Fergus Redimix while the couple lived at Wall Lake.
In 1972, they moved to Lake City, where he worked for Greenline Equipment John Deere. In1985, they moved back to Fergus Falls where he worked for Interstate John Deere. In 1990, they moved to Montevideo, and he worked for Kibble Equipment John Deere. Alan retired in 2000 after 32 years with John Deere.
In 2007, the couple moved back to Fergus Falls when his health began to decline. He was a member of the Elks, Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls and was a lifetime member of the Eagles.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking. He enjoyed John Deere tractors and being outside in nature. Alan especially enjoyed his days spent with family and the grandkids. He was a very loving father and friend to those who knew him. Alan will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Viola; an infant daughter; and a sister, Delores Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Betty Bye; a son, Andrew Bye and a daughter, Pauline Mau, of Fergus Falls; three grandchildren, Amanda Mau, Tiffany Mau and Cody Mau; one great-grandchild, Hunter Berneking; a sister, Mary (Virgil) Albertson of Fergus Falls; a brother, Russell (Bonnie) Bye of Underwood; a uncle, Harold Bye; his beloved companion, “Oscar” the Westie; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of friends. | BYE, Alan Elvin (I13115)

In the 1920 census, she is the 22 year-old Ida Kloster, wife of Peter G or Peter S, who lives in Nunda Twp, Freeborn County, Minnesota. Peter was born in Illinois in 1896 or 1897. That woman’s maiden name was Thompson, her father was born in Norway and her mother in Iowa.
In the 1930 census, she is a 32 year-old divorcee living with her children in Community Acres, Multnomah County, Oregon, as DeEtta Kloster. She is a saleswoman in a department store.
In the 1940 census, she is the 43 year-old Etta McPherson, wife of Leonard, age 48 and born in Massachusetts. That household, which includes Etta’s youngest son Marvin, is in Coquille, Coos County, Oregon. Five years earlier, all three had lived in Marshfield in Coos County. Leonard is an automobile salesman.
The Oregon Death Index records two entries for the death of Etta Macpherson, husband’s name L: 3 Jul 1954 in Deschutes County, and 15 Nov 1955 in Multnomah County. All through her life Margaret loved music. She was a member of the Singing Legionettes, the Federated Church Choir and the Senior Citizens Kitchen Band where she played the washboard. She enjoyed singing and accompanying herself on the autoharp. Her songs brought joy to all who knew her, and she always encouraged her family to find pleasure in music. She was a homemaker and found pleasure in knitting, crocheting, cooking and nurturing her family. She was known to her grandchildren as "Fluffy." She wore her Norwegian heritage with pride as a member of the Otter Tail County Historical Society, Senior Citizens, Antiquarians and Sons of Norway. She is survived by her daughters: Rebecca (Reno) Kuehnel of Wausaukee, Wis., Doris (Jerry) Enderson of Fergus Falls, and Kathryn Knutson of Wadena; sons, Richard (Mary Ann) Pederson of Kettering, Ohio, and Charles (Vicki) Pederson of Rolla, Mo.; son-in-law, Norman Toso of Janesville, Wis.; 32 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her brother, Conrad LeRoy (Delores) Johnson of Barnesville. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Phyllis Marlene Toso; her husband, Reuben P. Pederson; and a sister, Thora Adeline Bergeson. At the time of the 1930 census, Tillman was living on Black Bottom Road in Franklin Township next door to his parents and down the road from his sister and brother. The family was: Tilman, 27, his wife Selma, 29, and their sons Sylvan, 5, and Gordon, 2. Tilman was 20 when he was first married; Selma was 22.
At the time of the 1940 census (indexed as Memlahl), Tilman and his three children lived with his parents, the same house in which they all had lived in 1935. Tilman, a laborer, was engaged in public work.
The history of the Kickapoo United Lutheran Church records the death of "Tillman Nundahl" in 1962 and "Tilman Nundahl" in 1971. The 1971 “Tilman”’s specifics, according to the SSDI, are as follows: b. 20 Mar 1901, d. Jun 1971, Residence Viroqua, 396-36-1124 issued in WI in 1955. [The 1910 census for Town of Franklin, Vernon County shows a 9 year old “Tilman” as the son of Ole O. Nundahl, a brother of Sever.]
