The Rev. Cecil M. Johnson, 87, Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, in the nursing home.

Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 24, 1918, in Minot, N.D., where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1935. In 1940, he earned an education degree from Minot State University. From 1940 to 1941, he taught high school in Zahl, N.D. From 1941 to 1943, he worked for Lockheed Aircraft, Los Angeles. On Dec. 24, 1941, he married Eleanor Granstrom in Appam, N.D. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1943 to 1946. He graduated from Luther Seminary, St. Paul. From 1949 to 1956, he served at a four-point parish in Starkweather, N.D. He then served at a two-point parish in Pelican Rapids, Minn., until 1969. He received an honorary doctorate from Concordia College in 1969. From 1969 to 1981, he served as district president (bishop) of the northern Minnesota district of the American Lutheran Church. He worked for Oak Grove (Minn.) Lutheran High School from 1981 until his retirement in 1983. She died in 2004.

He is survived by a son, The Rev. Timothy (Susan), Anoka, Minn.; two daughters, Kathryn Benson, Moorhead, Sita (Norman) Johnson, Richfield, Minn.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Monday from 5 to 7 in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, and Tuesday from 10 to 11 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.

Funeral: Tuesday at 11 in the church.

Marjorie R. Maney, 88, of Rockford, passed away Fri., January 2, 2015 at home. Born August 21, 1926, in La Crosse, WI, to Olaf and Charlotte Smevog. She married James D. Maney on July 10, 1948. He predeceased her on Nov. 13, 2012. Marge received her B.A. degree from Rockford College in June 1948. She was a 3rd grade teacher in the Harlem School district for 30 years. She was involved in Altar Guild, TWELCA, Cornucopia Food Pantry, Trinity House and Trinity Day Care. she belong to Tinker Cottage, Midway Village Museum, Rockford Historical Society and was a 35 year member of Sons of Norway.

Survivors include daughter, Janet Maney; son, David (Marchia) Maney; two grandsons; great-granddaughter, Alexandra; sister, Ruth (Robert) Frise; brothers-in-law, John P. Maney and Guilford Hanesworth; sister-inlaw, Eleanore Riley. Predeceased by sister, Jan Hanesworth.

TAYLOR--Albert John passed away on Friday, June 14, 2002 in Stettler, Alberta at the age of 70 years. Albert (Al) is survived by nine sons and one daughter; Wes of Red Deer, AB; David of Red Deer, AB; Dale of Cranbrook, B.C.; Randy; Duane of Cranbrook, B.C.; Ernie of Medicine Hat, AB; Bob of Pincher Creek, AB; Doug of Pincher Creek, AB; Rodney of Saskatoon, SK; Sherri of Medicine Hat, AB,his ex-wife Beverly, Medicine Hat, AB, brother Earl (Gwen) Taylor of Regina; sister Florence Taylor of Calgary, AB; twenty-three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The Memorial Service for Al will be held at Rosemont United Church, 5000 8th Ave, Regina Sk. at 3:00pm on Sunday, August 4th, 2002. Everyone welcome. Reverend Jeeva Sam officiating. Albert has lived in Stettler, Alta for the past eleven years.
