1551 Anders and his family lived on the Nundahl farm in Årdahl, Leirdahl, in the 1801 census.

Arne Moen calls him Anders Johanneson Volldal and says that Anders got the Ekra farm in 1784.

A different Jonas Olof Olofsson Berglöf was born 22 Feb 1854 in Ilsbo, Gävleborg, Sweden. He was baptized 26 Feb 1854 and his parents were Olof Jonsson Berglof and Brita Pehrsdotter. One of the two left Sweden for the U.S. in 1869 with his parents and brother.

In the 1875 Minnesota census, he was 21 and living in Isanti County with his parents and brother.

In the 1900 census, he is a farmer in Isanti County. His birthdate is shown as Jan 1855.

In the 1910 census, he is Ole Berglof, still on his farm in Wyanett Twp, Isanti, County, now a 53 year-old widower. All of his children are living with him as is his brother Andrew, a 58 year-old bachelor.

In the 1920 census, he is living with his son Henry and family in Wyanett, Isanti County.

In the 1940 census, he was an 84 year-old widower living with his grandson Clinton Ratfield in Wyanett Twp, Isanti County, Minnesota.

1556 Anders’s birth record clearly names his mother as Sigri Endresdatter Torpe-eie and his father as Asbjørn Andersen Steile. His baptismal sponsors were Aslak Bøe, Gudmund Øylo, Nils Andersen Hagastrand, Ingeborg Andersdatter Hagastrand, and Berith Amundsdatter Tørpeeie.

In the 1865 census, he seems to be shown as the son of the widow Maren Andersdatter, b. 1820, daughter of the widower Anders Ovesen, b. 1791, husmand on the Piprud farm.

dwfrench1 calls him Anders Asbjørnsen Torpe, born on Torplien in Øye.

He was a laborer on Brekke at the time that his daughter Gjertrude was born in September of 1874. He was still on Brekke when his daughter Anne was born in February of 1877.

In the 1880 census, he is Anders A Øye, 35, living with his family in Warsaw Twp, Goodhue County. He is a shoemaker. The rest of the household is Anne, 27, Sigrid, 8, Gertrude, 5, Anne, 3, and Ingeborg, 1 (b. July 1879). Everyone except baby Ingeborg were born in Norway.

In the 1885 North Dakota census, Andrew and his family live and farm in Cass County, Dakota Territory. The household consists of Andrew, 40, Anna, 30, Sarah, 13, Jennie, 10, Anna, 8, Henry, 4, Belle, 2, and Albert, 0 (b. Apr 1885). Everyone older than Henry was born in Norway. Henry was born in Minnesota. Everyone younger than Henry was born in Dakota Territory.

In the 1900 census, as Andrew Elton, age 55, he lives and farms in Davenport Twp, Cass County, North Dakota with his wife Anna, age 46, and four of their children: Elma, 13, Albert, 11, Ella, 7, and Henry, 19. Andrew and Anna have been married for 28 years and Anna has had 10 children, 8 still living. The couple came to the U.S. in 1877. The three youngest children were born in North Dakota, Henry was born in Minnesota.

In the 1910 census, he and his family lived in Grilley. The houshold consisted of Andrew, 75, Emma, age 66, Gertrude, 40, a widow, Engeborg, 34, Ella, 24, and Andrew’s grandson, Claude Olson, 17. The three oldest people were born in Norway. Engeborg was born in Minnesota, Ella and Claud were born in North Dakota.

In the 1925 North Dakota census, the household in McHenry County only consists of Andrew, age 80, Gertrude Olson, 50, and Claud Olson, 21.

In the 1930 census, he, age 85, his wife Anna, age 66, and Andrew’s married daughter Gertrude Olson, age 55, live in Grilley Twp, McHenry County. All three are shown as born in Norway and having come to the U.S. in 1877. Andrew was first married at age 25, Anna was first married at age 18, and Gertrude was first married at age 20. The household includes Andrew’s grand-nephew, Alton Hanson, age 13, born in North Dakota to a father born in Norway and a mother born in Wisconsin.

Anders Asbjørnsen died in Deering in Grilley Twp, McHenry County, North Dakota on 26 Aug 1931 as Andrew Elton. He was a widower. The informant for the information on his death certificate was Belle Elton. Andrew Elton’s mother is shown as Sigrid Twidt.

His obituary from the August 26, 1931, edition of the Granville Herald:

Andrew Elton, one of the pioneer settlers of Grilley township died at his farm home there August 26 He was 87 years old and his health had gradually declined during the past days.

Mr. Elton who was born December 21, 1844, first came to America from Norway in 1877 with his wife and three children. The family settled near Northfield and in 1881 moved to the vicinity of Kindred. In 1902 Mr. and Mrs. Elton and the children moved to the homestead in Grilley township and that has since been the family home. Mrs. Elton and five children preceded the husband and father in death.

Survivors include four daughters and two sons: Mrs. Dahlen of Kindred: Mrs. T.O. Soine of New Rockford: Mrs. Gertrude Olson and Miss Belle Elton; Deering; Henry of Parkbeg, Saskatchewan, and Albert of Spokane, Washington. A number grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Elton continued active farming until a few years ago when forced to retire due to failing health. He was chiefly interested in his home and found pleasure in his work there. He was of a retiring disposition and kindly in his intercourse with neighbors and friends and enjoyed the high esteem of all who knew him.

Funeral services over his remains were held Saturday afternoon, August 30th. Rev. Aarstad conducting the service. A short service was held at the home at 1 o'clock after which the funeral cortege moved to St. Olaf church where impressive services were held and the remains were laid to rest beside those of his faithful wife who had preceded him in death but a short year ago. A large number of neighbors and friends were present to pay their last tribute to this worthy citizen. Special music was rendered both at the house and church.

Relatives from a distance who attended were: Mrs. A.P. Dahlen and son Peder of Kindred; Mr. And Mrs. T.O. Soine, New Rockford: Ole Sem and daughter, Mrs. N. Hasledahlen and son Kenneth and daughter in law Mrs. Arthur Sem all of Carpio. Mr. Sem is a brother in law of the deceased.
