Florence J. Ellingboe, 94, of Donnellson Health Center, formerly of Hastings, Minn., died at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at the health center.
Born April 17, 1913, in Hastings, she was the daughter of John and Maria Ries Girgen. On May 2, 1932, she married Raymond Ellingboe in Hastings. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ellingboe was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington and VFW Auxiliary in Hastings. She had been a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. She retired in 1979 from Hudson Manufacturing Co. in Minnesota. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include one son, James Ellingboe of Donnellson; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Farmington, where family will receive friends.
The Mass of Christian burial for Mrs. Ellingboe will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Apo T. Mpanda as celebrant.
Her body will be cremated after the service. Burial will be at a later date in Hastings.
A memorial has been established for American Diabetes Association.

“Helen passed away peacefully after 101 full years. She was a woman of unassuming dignity who brought delight and a genuine sense of appreciation to the many lives that she touched. We celebrate her journey.
“Helen Ellingboe was born in Dennison, MN on Sept 9, 1908. After graduating from Mankato Commercial College, she spent 4 years working at the Mayo Clinic. While attending the Univ of Minn, she married Dr. Calvin Schmid, who was on the faculty there. They moved to Seattle in 1937, where he served as a professor of sociology at the UW until his retirement in 1972. They made their home on Whidbey Island until 1985 when they moved to Panorama City. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
“She is survived by her children, Barbara (David) Linn and Stanton (Lana) Schmid; 2 grandchildren, Robert Linn and Teri (Will) Anderson; and 2 great grand-children, Andy & Lexie. Helen will be remembered for her sense of humor, kindness, style and grace. At her request, no services will be held. Remembrances may be made to the Calvin F. & Helen E. Ellingboe Ivar J. Northfield News Apr/1985 Ivar Johan Ellingboe, 77, formerly of the Dennison area, died Monday, April 8, 1985, at the Dilley Unit of Northfield Hospital where he had resided 7 1/2 years. Ellingboe was born Feb. 3, 1908, at Dennison, the son of Erick and Johanna (Svien) Ellingboe. He attended rural Goodhue County schools and as an adult, farmed near Dennison. He was known for his special love for animals. He farmed as long as his health permitted. He never married. He was a life-long member of Vang Lutheran Church. Surviving him are a brother, Edward of Dennison; a sister, Amanda Egland of Northfield Retirement Center; a sister-in-law, Doris Ellingboe of Northfield; a niece, Karen Schuette (Mrs. Dale) of Northfield; a nephew, Arlie Egland of Dennison. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Erick. A funeral service was held April 11 at Vang Lutheran Church with the Rev. Curtis Schneider officiating. Ruth Hinderaker was the organist and special music was presented by the Dilley Unit staff. Burial was at Vang Lutheran Cemetery.
