According to Arne Moen’s Ekra history, Matis Olson Nundal emigrated in April of 1868. In the 1870 U.S. census, Mathias Olson, 21, is a farm laborer living with the John Ouren family in Linden Twp, Brown County, Minnesota.

In the 1875 Minnesota census, a 28 year-old Mathias Olesen is listed in Big Stone County.

In the 1880 U.S. census, a 32 year-old Mats Olson lives in Hantho Twp, Lac Qui Parle County, Minnesota, with his wife Anna and four children, the oldest of which is 5 year-old Ole.

Also in that census, a 32 year-old Matt Oleson is a bachelor farmer in Pleasant Valley Twp, Mower County.

In the 1885 Minnesota census:

Mathias Olson, 37, living with his family in Lake Hanska Twp, Brown County.
Mathias Olson, 36, apparently a farmhand living in Polk Twp, Vineland County.

In the 1895 Wisconsin census, Mathias is listed as living in Franklin Twp. His household consists of 1 male and 2 females.

In the 1900 census, Mathias and Martha live in Franklin Twp with Mathias’s father Ole, a 78 year-old widower born in July of 1821.

In the 1905 state census, Mathias and Martha live in Franklin Twp. Mathias’s father is not living with them. They do have a 22 year-old servant named Ole J Urness living with them.

In the 1910 census a 62 year-old Mathias Olson, born in Norway and came to the U.S. in 1869, lives with his wife Martha in Franklin Twp, Vernon County. Also in the household is Maria Urness, 26, servant.

He is not listed in the Vernon County death index, at least not for the 1929 death date shown on his gravestone.

She died as Christine Willson at Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park. Her residence at the time was 707 Summit Avenue, Minneapolis. The cause of her death was a cerebral hemorrhage brought on by arteriosclerosis.

The funeral home that handled her burial was apparently owned by a relative: L. E. Enga, funeral director at the Enga Memorial Funeral Chapel of 5600 Excelsior Boulevard in Minneapolis.
