WESTBY — Jason L. Mikkelson, 42, of Westby died Thursday, March 17, 2016, in Rochester, Minn., after a long battle with VHL.
He was born Nov. 3, 1973, to Arden and Madonna (Clark) Mikkelson. On May 4, 2013, he was united in marriage to Emily Erickson. During Jason’s illness, Emily was by his side and was his loving caregiver. Jason loved country music, fishing with Emily, and auto racing. He had owned 42 vehicles during his life.
He is survived by his wife, Emily; mother, Madonna Buros of Viroqua; sister, Krista Buros (Bill Gudgeon) of Onalaska; mother-in-law, Lori Erickson of Westby; sisters-in-law, Nikki Grant of Westby, and Rebecca Tyo Mikkelson of Viroqua; six nieces and nephews, Arissa, Braedyn, Kori, Karter, Zach and Madison; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arden July 31, 1982; stepfather, Ron Buros March 6, 2001; father-in-law, Tilman Erickson in 2000; paternal grandparents, Eileen and Lawrence Mikkelson; maternal grandparents, Bernard and Rita Clark; and his brother, Jerry Mikkelson March 13, 2010.

Howard Lester Bloch age 90 of Westbrook, formerly of Fridley and Rush City, died Friday, May 31, 2013 at Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.
Howard Lester Bloch was born April 8, 1923 in Westbrook, MN to Herman and Caroline (Frank) Bloch. He attended School District #59 and Dunwoody Institute for machine shop. In 1946 he married Lorraine Warren in Jeffers. Howard served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1948 doing mine sweeps on the USS Greenlet. After the service, they moved to Minneapolis and also lived in Hilltop and Fridley until 1969. Howard worked for the Sioux Line Railroad and Great Northern which became Burlington Northern. After retirement from Onan, he moved to Rush City until 1978 and then to Westbrook in 1983 where he has resided since. Howard was a member of the VFW and Eagles Club. He enjoyed reading.
Survivors include his sons Kenneth Bloch of Columbia Heights and Bradford Bloch of Fridley; granddaughter Anna (Scott) of Scotland; great grandchildren Bayleigh and Harrison; step children: Bob (Carol) Taylor, Sandra (Cy) Fashnecht, and Ernie (Susan) Taylor and their families. He is also survived by sister Irene Spensley of Columbia Heights, sisters-in-law Ginger Bloch of Bigfork and Cheryl Bloch of Aitkin, and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, grandson Derek Bradford Howard Bloch, long-time companion Dorothy Taylor, brothers Carl and John, sister Amanda, and brothers in law Roy and Clarence. | BLOCH, Howard Lester (I10523)

At the time of the 1890 census, Britta and Anders Henrik and their son Albin were residing in Sund, in the parish of Elfsbacka, in the county of Värmland.
According to the 91-95 Household Examination, they were living near or with Anders Henrik’s parents in/on Sund Eg in Älvsbacka.
Had 5 children, one of whom lived in New Jersey.

A letter from a family member in Sweden gives her last name as Ulander.

"Sally" Shirley Jane Bestor (Sandvik) passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, from long-term heart disease.
Sally was born to Engvald A. "Eng" and Dorothy J. (Meier) Sandvik, of Harmony, on Feb. 19, 1936. Her only brother, Keith Sandvik (Betty Amdahl), Rochester, was born in 1938. Sally married Lowell H. Engle (deceased), of Harmony, in 1953. They later divorced. Their union bore three children, Terry R. Engle, Harmony; DebRae Sandvik (Engle), LeRoy; and Douglas T. Engle (Mary Jo Kroeger), rural Cresco, Iowa.
Sally married Garth M. Bestor, from Granger, in 1961. They had three children, Ty Bestor, (Dacia Windler), Harmony; Tonya Bestor, McHenry, Ill.; and Chad Bestor (Jill Duerfeldt), Kenai, Alaska.
Sally loved her country home six miles west of Harmony where she enjoyed spending time gardening. There, she started her home business personalizing china. Her business blossomed into a gift shop in her basement for 40 plus years. Buying and collecting for herself and her shop was her passion. She enjoyed traveling and meeting people along the way and kept in touch with many of her friends and family through massive letter writing, mail and playing cards.
Sally is survived by her husband, Garth (79); brother, Keith (75); her six children; and grandchildren, David, Jared (Lindsi Every) and Travis (TJ) Engle, Taylor (Kathryn France), Whitney and Blair Bestor; and most recently, her great-granddaughter, Kymber Luna Bestor. | SANDVIK, Shirley Jane (I37645)
