Mrs. Alton Hougen, 58, of Rt. 2, Reedsville, died Wednesday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. The Rev. Robert Onkka will officiate and burial will be in Our Saviours Cemetery, Valders.
Mrs. Hougen, nee Mae Schurr, was born Nov. 23, 1916, in the Town of Manitowoc, dauther of the late David Schurr and Mrs. Emma Schurr. She was married to Alton Hougen Sept. 30, 1944, at Manitowoc.
Survivors include her husband, two sons, David and Dennis, her mother, a brother Henry, a sister, Mrs. Kermit Johnson of Rt. 1, Valders, and two grandchildren. A sister preceded her in death. | SCHURR, Mae (I31309)

Mrs. Christian Hougen, 56, nee Etta Torrison, died last night at the Holy Family hospital following a stroke she suffered at the farm home in Cato a week ago.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from the home and at two o'clock at Our Saviors Lutheran church in Valders.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Hougen was born in Rockland in 1887 and in 1910 was married to Mr. Hougen. They located on the farm in Cato.
Survivors are the widower, two daughters, Mrs. Theodore Bieberitz of Valders and Verna Mae, on the home farm; son, Alton, on the farm; two brothers, Bennett of Rockland and Orrin of Valders; four sisters, Mrs. Alfred Christianson and Mrs. Leonard Larson of Cato, Mrs. Joel Johnson of Liberty, Mrs. Leonard Johnston of Valders; also two grandchildren. | TORRISON, Coretta Alvina (I31306)

Mrs. Dunn passed away Wednesday at Plumley Rehab center in Paris. Her service will be Saturday l0:30 A.M. McEvoy Chapel with burial to follow in Point Pleasant Cemetery, visitation will be Friday 4:00 until 8:00 and after 9:00 Saturday until service time. She is survived by her husband Harry Dunn, three sons Richard (Janice) Dunn, Cedar Park, TX, Roger (Judy) Dunn, Aurora, MO and Timothy (Jennifer) Dunn, Adrian, MI, seven grandchildren, a sister Juanita Hadley, Lynnwood, CA, preceded by her parents Guy and Ola May Byrd Swor, two sisters Barbara Spaulding and Maria Elizabeth Swor at age 3. Mrs. Dunn was a member of the East Wood Street Church of Christ. She worked during WWII in airplane factories in Detroit, retired as retail sales person in Detroit. Mrs. Ellingboe died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Seton Medical Center in Daly City.
Born Dec. 13, 1935, in Neosho, Mo., she moved to Shasta County in 1990 from Woodland Hills.
She was -- homemaker and -- member of Redding Christian Fellowship.

Mrs. Emma Alfson, 73, lifelong resident of the county, died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harland Peterson, in Valders.
Born Emma Berge in Liberty in 1872, she was married to John Alfson, and they located in the town. He died 30 years ago. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Peterson and Mrs. Raymond Brennan of Valders, Mrs. Herbert Vogel of Cato; two sons, Herbert of Valders, Bennett of this city; two brothers, Anton of Valders, Andrew of Liberty; sister, Mrs. Molly Finkelson of this city, Mrs. (sic) four
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Berge funeral home, Valders, and at 2 o'clock at the West Valders Lutheran church.

Mrs. Florence May Vetterl, 80 years of Watson and formerly of Spalding passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 at Humboldt District Hospital. Florence was born on December 3, 1929 to John & Emma (nee Johnson) Vetterl at the homestead east of Spalding. Florence led a good life to the age of 80. She grew up in the Spalding area where her parents farmed and she attended school at the Lake Edward School. Florence worked at Wilber’s Café in Spalding and had always wanted to open her own restaurant as she was an excellent cook and baker. She worked for Charlotte Glover as a nanny for several years; she also worked at the Red & White Store in Spalding for Joe & Edna Hutchinson. Florence and her late husband, William owned the butcher shop in Spalding for several years until they sold it. She worked at the Spalding Co-op until her retirement due to her health. Florence was a member of the Spalding Willing Workers, Dovre Lutheran Ladies, White Dove, Senior Citizens and also served on the Spalding Homecoming Committee. She loved her flowers, garden, playing cards, and visiting with family and friends, until her health wouldn’t allow her to get out as much. The tea kettle or coffee pot was always on and dainties put out when company came to visit. She was a very caring and giving person. She always worried about her family no matter what age they got to be. She was known to her grandchildren for her buns, cinnamon buns and cookies. She spent her entire life in Spalding until Florence and Willie sold their home in October, 2008 and moved to Watson where they resided until present. She will be remembered and cherished forever by everyone. We will never forget you Mom! Florence will be sadly missed by her children, five daughters and one son; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren: Darlene (Doug) Amundson of Naicam and family, Dean (BobbiJo) Amundson and children, Taylor, Keely-Anne, Levi and Graeson all of Red Deer, AB, Diane Amundson and son, Steven both of Naicam and Darwin (Jill) Amundson and children, Cade and Jase all of Innisfail, AB; Charlene Miller (friend, Fred Hinck) of Regina and family, Peggysue (Ronnie) Pfneisl and children, Jordan and Carissa all of Watson, Renee (Roger) Berting and children, Brittanie, Jocelyn and Jayme all of St. Gregor and Jason Miller of Regina; Laverne Vetterl of Spalding; Debbie (Herb) Gillies of Saskatoon and family, Janette (Aarron) Hindman and son, Baden all of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, and Jennifer Swartz and daughter Kendra both of Saskatoon; Faye (Leo) Moisan and family, Christine (Sean) Paul and Bradley Moisan all of Saskatoon; and Shelly (Devin) Plantz and son Wyatt Plantz all of Naicam; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her siblings: 2 sisters, Marie (Mac) Gardner of Surrey, BC and Rose Gardner of Surrey, BC; 2 brothers, Alvin (Odette) Vetterl of Surrey, BC and Larry (Sharrin) Vetterl of Langley, BC, sister-in-laws, Shirley Burant of Chilliwack, BC and Marilyn Vetterl of Surrey, BC. She was predeceased by her husband, William, her parents John & Emma, sister, Linda, brothers, Roy (Alice), Clarence (Joyce), Leonard, Alphonse, Elmer & Victor and her brother-in-law, Keith Gardner. The Graveside Funeral Service for Florence was held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Dovre Lutheran Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Brenda Curtis. Mrs. Harriet A. Schnepf, 60, of Berkeley Heights died yesterday at home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights.
Mrs. Schnepf was a teacher's aide with the Berkeley Heights Board of Education for 30 years.
Born in the Bronx, she lived in Elizabeth before moving to Berkeley Heights 36 years ago.

Mrs. Herbert J. Cole, 47, life-time resident of Rochester, died Sunday of cancer at her home, 530 6th St. SW, after 11 months illness.
The former Constance Irene Koenig was born in Rochester Sept. 3, 1914. She was married to Herbert J. Cole Oct. 6, 1940. Mr. Cole is proprietor of the Cole Drug Store on North Broadway.
Mrs. Cole is survived by her husband; two children, Irene and Tom; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Koenig of Rochester, and a brother, Lloyd S. Koenig of Rochester.

Mrs. John Carr Passes Away at Jamestown Home
Jamestown, N. D., March 6 --- Mrs. John Carr, wife of States' Attorney Carr, passed away at midnight Wednesday night, following an illness of about two weeks. Mrs. Carr has been in poor health for almost two years, but had been gaining in health and strength up to about the first of the year. About two weeks ago, she was taken with what was considered a very mild attack of influenza, and was not considered seriously ill until Wednesday noon. She failed very rapidly from then on until the time of death.
The deceased was forty-five years of age, having been born in Dennison, Minnesota, on May 19, 1874. Her maiden name was Marie Remmen, and she was married to Mr. Carr on August 22, 1905 in Minnesota, coming directly to Jamestown with her husband who had started in business here three years before. Mrs. Carr was a graduate of the State Normal School at Valley City and taught in the city schools at that place for about six years prior to her marriage.
Mrs. Carr leaves in addition to her husband, four children: Edwin, aged 13; Mary, aged 10; William, aged 5; and Martha, aged two years and five months. She also leaves her mother, Thora (Mrs. Anders T. Remmen) of Dennison, Minnesota, two brothers, Martin Remmen of Hettinger, North Dakota and Dr. Nils Remmen of Chicago, Illinois, and two sisters, Margaret (Mrs. Kjostel A.
