Registered for the draft on June 5, 1917, in the village of Adams, Mower County, where Lars was the superintendent of the Adams Public Schools. He was single. He was described as of medium height and build with blue eyes and brown hair. His birth year was shown as 1892 on his draft registration although that was inconsistent with his stated age of 25.
In the 1920 census, he is a “professor” at a public school in Branch, Chisago County, Minnesota. His wife is Hilda L. and they have no children.
The cemetery records, perhaps his gravestone, indicate that Lars was a veteran of WWI. According to the Valdris Book, he was in service from October of 1918 to February of 1919 as a Seaman at the Great Lakes Officers Material School.
In the 1930 census, he and Hilda and their two sons live in Chicago. He is a superintendent of an orphan home.
In the 1940 census, he and his family live in Norwood Park, Illinois, in the same house in which they had lived in 1935. He is the head of the Norwegian Lutheran Childrens Home. | KILDAHL, Lars Sigurd (I8623)

In the 1918 Williston, North Dakota, city directory, she may be the Ida M Ellingboe, milliner for E E Freehauf, residing at 3 La Due Court.
Couldn’t find her in the 1920 census.
In the 1922 Minneapolis city directory, she may be the Ida M Ellingboe, milliner, who lives at 13 S Broadway.
In the 1925 Duluth city directory, she may be the Ida M Ellingboe, buyer in the Glass Block. She lives at the Hotel Lenox.
In the 1926 Duluth city directory, she may be the Ida M Ellingboe, manager for Stronge & Warner Co. and residing at the Spalding Hotel.
In the 1926 St. Paul city directory, she may be the Ida M Ellingboe, buyer for Macey’s, living at 613 Wabasha.

Her middle name is shown as Elaine on Jacqueline’s birth certificate.

The informant for her death certificate was her daughter Susan Hessevick of 402 Colonial Circle, Young America, Minnesota. Doris was or had been a secretary for the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. She was a widow but no spouse’s name was included. Doris died of a spontaneous cerebral aneurysm.
Doris’s obituary was published on p. D01 of the January 11, 1989, edition of the Duluth News-Tribune:
Doris E. Campbell, 70, of North 60th Avenue West, died Monday, Jan 9, 1989, in St. Luke’s Hospital. She was a lifelong Duluth resident and most recently worked for 12 years as secretary for the Minnesota Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, retiring in 1982. She is survived by three daughters, Susan Hessevick of Young America, Minn., Penny Milostan of Torrance, Calif., and Jacqueline Morkved of Lake Mary, Fla.; two sisters, Ethel Fairchild of Duluth and Gertrude Marshall of Sauk Centre, Minn.; a brother John Anderson of Sun City, Ariz.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Robert was living at the Saunes Skogdalen Nursing Home in Soldiers Grove at the time of his death. His sister Benetta may have been in the same nursing home at that time.
His obit notes that he worked at the Beloit Corporation for many years at then at the Del Monte Canning Factory in Arlington. There is no mention of his wife in the obit but five of his (at least seven) children are listed.
In the 1960 Beloit city directory, a Robert J Olson and wife Vivian L live at 1016 Clary. He works as a crane operator at Beloit Iron Works.
