In the 1940 census, he was Chris Sorenson of La Habra in Orange County. This Chris was born in Denmark in about 1885. His wife Amanda was from South Dakota as was their son, then also living with them, Vernon L, age 22. The family had lived in rural South Dakota in 1935. Chris was a carpenter in the citrus industry, Vernon was a laborer in the radio broadcasting industry.

He is probably the Chris Sorensen, b. 30 Nov 1884, who died in Los Angeles County on 11 Aug 1962.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 11:00 am (10-11 visitation) at First Baptist Church in Webster with Pastor Tim Quinn officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster WI.

In the 1920 census, she was 21, single, and a stenographer living in Minneapolis on West Grant Street with her brother Edward and her sister Ida.

In the 1920 Minneapolis city directory, she was Ellen Thompson, stenographer for United States Fidelity & Guarantee Co. She lived at 2705 Stevens.

In the 1924 Minneapolis city directory, she was probably the Ellen, aka Eleanor, Thompson, a stenographer and bookeeper for Landis Shoe and Harness Machinery. She lived at 2816 Stevens Avenue.

The couple was renting a home in Denver at the time of the 1930 census. They had no children but did have a 34 year-old “roomer” named Henry Z. something. (The name is illegible.) Roy is shown as 33 and Ellen as 31.

A Conrad Skogen “of Duluth” attended Anna Bye Everson’s funeral and, according to Harold, Iver Everson’s funeral.

Occupation in the 1930 census, at which time he was still living with his parents, is unclear but the industry he worked in is shown as “grain.”

In the 1936 Duluth city directory, he is Edmond C Skogen, a clerk for the DW&P Railway. He lives with his parents at 131 East Winona.

In the 1940 census, he was single and living with his mother in Duluth. He was a clerk for a railroad.

His obituary was published on p. 24:2 of the December 19, 1972, edition of the Duluth News-Tribune. He was 63 and lived at 131 East Winona Street. He died at work. He had been treasurer and a director of Franklin Creamery Company for 25 years and was a lifelong resident of Duluth. He was a graduate of Central High School and was a member of the Sons of Norway, the Duluth Power Squadron, and the Duluth Community Club. He was survived by his wife Ella and two cousins, Miss Astrid and Miss Margrethe Skogen, both of Duluth.

(In the 1936 Duluth city directory, Astrid Skogen is a teacher at Jackson School and Margrethe is a nurse for the Board of Education. The two women live with Kristian Skogen at 1123 East 6th.)
