An Edvard was born in Rakkestad on 1 Jul 1844 to Syver Eriksen and Anne Marie Larsdatter. That Edward is probably the Edvard Syversen “indtinget Fattiglem” on Orud in Rakkestad with the Kristen Olsen family in the 1865 census.

Birth records for Nes in 1844 are not available on Digitalarkivet. Confirmation records in Nes for the applicable dates do not include and Edvard Severson.

The Edward Severson who died of sepsis on April 5, 1915, at the Parkview hospital in Jamestown, North Dakota, was shown as 75 years old in the brief obit in the Jamestown newspaper. That Edward’s obit said he normally lived in Robinson and that he was survived by two sons who lived in Robinson. That Edward Severson’s Find A Grave entry says that he was born in Norway in 1841.

This family for Syver is speculative. Rakkestad is southeast of Oslo, quite a ways from Helgøya and the Syver Eriksen involved in the Rakkestad marriage to Anne Larsdatter was two years younger.

Neither he nor Anne Marie could be found in Rakkestad in the 1865 census.

Other sources say his wife was Ingrid Jensdatter. Neither he nor Ingrid Jensdatter could be found in Næs in the 1865 census.

In the 1801 Norwegian census, the family was living on the Aflangerud farm in Næss parish, Hedmarken. The household consisted of Erich Jensen, 34, Gaardbruger (farmer), his first and only wife Anne Arnesdatter, 28, their children: Magrethe, 9, Jens, 8, Anders, 4, and Tore, 1, Erich’s father, the widower Jens Erichsen, 63, a servant, a foster daughter, and two husmann families.
