It is unlikely that this person is Dugal Ruaidhrisson, Lord of Kintyre and underking of the Hebrides (born before 1249 and died1268). This speculative genealogical connection is probably based on G. Munthe's suggestion that Pål Eiriksøn's father was a son of Eirik Duggalsøn. See: Samlinger til det norske folkssprog og historie.
