In the 1900 census, she was living with her daughter Berit Holien in Renville County. She had come to the U.S. in 1866.

There is some confusion about this person. Some reputable sources have him as the son of Ole Tostensen Kvåle (#24448) and Margrethe Knudsdatter. That is incorrect. It’s true that that couple had a son Tosten born about this time but that Tosten Olsen died in infancy.
