David A. Dale, born 9/12/34, died 8/18/05 after a brief battle with leukemia. He was a Sunday editor at the Star Tribune newspaper. He was in the newspaper business for 25 years. Owner of Bookdale Book Store. He was very proud of his 100 percent rating on eBay. Wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and squirrel wrangler. Survived by his wife, Joyce; three children, two step children; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; one sister; two brothers; nieces and nephews; many friends and countless loyal customers.

In the 1934 St. Paul city directory, he was a caretaker. He was married to Florence by this time.

In the 1940 census, he was a guard at a packing plant (Hormel). He and his family lived in Austin, Minnesota. Manley had had two years of college. Manley and Florence had lived in Minneapolis in 1935.

In the 1910 census, he was the head-of-household, living with his wife Jennie, her sister Ida, his brothers Andrew and Gilbert, and his sister Ragnhild. They lived in Minneapolis. Erick had come to the U.S. in 1900, Andrew in 1908, Gilbert in 1904, and Ragnhild in 1908. Erick owned the house at 2900 15th Avenue. Andrew and Erick were painters, Gilbert was a mason, Ida and Ragnhild were dress-makers.

He registered for the draft in Minneapolis in September of 1918. He had an auto painting business at 1112 East Lake Street. He was still not a citizen. He and Jennie lived at 3016 12th Avenue.

In the 1920 census, he and Jennie lived at 3016 1st Avenue in Minneapolis in a house they owned with a mortgage. Eric owned a garage.

In the 1930 census, he and Jennie lived at 3020 12th Avenue S. in a house they owned worth $8000. Erick was an automobile salesman. All of the children were still living with them in addition to three roomers.

Erick married Jennie Elenora JOHNSON on 7 Jan 1908 in Chisago County, Minnesota, and was divorced in Nov 1934 in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Jennie (daughter of Carl JOHNSON and Johanna Maria HOLT) was born on 14 Sep 1885 in Minnesota; died on 15 Dec 1958 in Hennepin County, Minnesota; was buried in Hillside Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Although the 1910 census showed her as having had one child, one child still living, there was no child listed with the household.

In the 1940 census (for which Ancestry has her indexed as Jerwin Dab), she and her daughter Rose and son Roy live in Minneapolis at 2826 11th Avenue in a house she owns, the same house in which they all had lived in 1935. Jennie works in a bakery. Rose is a stenographer, Roy also works in a bakery.
