A family photo of Nels and Hilda and family on Ancestry shows four older sons, a young son and daughter, and a baby, apparently son, who is about 1-2 years old.

In the 1930 census, he and Hilda, with their son Floyd and granddaughter Alberta, lived in Lucy, Burke County, North Dakota.

Nels married Hilda Gurina LARSON about 1892. Hilda was born on 19 Dec 1874 in Albert Lea, Freeborn County, Minnesota; died on 10 Dec 1956 in Burke County, North Dakota; was buried in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery, Mountrail County, North Dakota. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Came to the U.S. in 1854, unmarried. The bygdebok says that he had three illegitimate children while still in Norway.

He was called Anders Gundersen Septonejet in Knut’s and Berith’s birth records.

In the 1870 census, he is Anders Gunderson, a 45 year-old farmer in Warsaw Twp, Goodhue County. The household consists of Anders, 45, Sarah, 40, Betsy, 12, Ann, 10, Dorthie, 8, Emily, 6, Gunder, 3, and Anders, 1.

In the 1880 census, she is Sarah Gunderson, age 49, apparently a widow. With her on the farm in Warsaw Twp, Goodhue County, are Gunder, 14, Anders, 11, Nels, 8, and Anton, 5. Her nephew Engebret Engebretson, age 18, is a laborer living with them on the farm.
