    Bellingham, Washington - Joyce passed away peacefully at the age of 78, September 20th after a long illness. She joins Jerry, her high school sweetheart and husband of 61 years who preceded her in death.

    She and her twin sister Judy were born in Seattle, Washington to Edmund and Margaret Ellingboe. She and her siblings; Judy Giebel, Michael Ellingboe, and Jane Case (Bill) spent their wonderful childhoods between beautiful Newhalem and Gooseberry Point.

    Joyce loved to sew, bake, and spend time raising her 4 children on their property in Custer. She was also known as the sweet Hallmark lady where she retired after over 30 years. She was compassionate, caring, and would do anything for anyone. Joyce and Jerry also enjoyed annual reunions with their Concrete classmates and lifelong friends.

    Joyce is survived by her daughters Tracy Crank (Vern), Heidi Summers (Greg), Becky Stack (Rob), and son Chris Williams (Dionne); Grandchildren Willa Crank, Corey and Blake Williams; Great-Granddaughter Piper Williams; 5 step-grandchildren and brother-in-law Rick Williams.

    This is the same birthday as #10775. Unlikely as it seems, two Edmund Ellingboes did indeed have exactly the same birthday.

    Edmund W Ellingboe and Margaret B Thompson married in King County on 25 Dec 1941.

    In the 1930 census, he was the 18 year-old step-son of Christensen A and Magda Anderson of Fresno, California.

    He may be the Edmund Ellingboe, driver for Bernt Eidsmo, in the 1933 St. Paul city directory. He lived at 1374 Raymond Ave. That Edmund still is a driver for Eidsmo in the 1936 Minneapolis directory but he lives in St. Paul.

    He, or (less likely) the Edmund of #10775, is the subject of this newspaper article from the Saturday, September 4, 1937, edition of the Brainerd Daily Dispatch:

    “Edmund Ellingboe, of South Minneapolis, driver of one of the cars involved in a highway crash which yesterday resulted in the death of Theodore Berg, 23, of Brainerd, today faces a charge of “criminal negligence in the operation of vehicle resulting in the death of a human being.” The warrant was issued yesterday from the office of County Attorney F E Ebner and was served upon Ellingboe at St. Joseph’s hospital.

    “Hearing upon the charge will be delayed, possibly for several weeks, as Ellingboe is confined to the hospital with a compound fracture of the hip, an injury received in the crash which caused Berg’s death.

    “Others injured in the accident were Ernest Rausch, of Brainerd, driver of the car in which Berg was riding and Carl Layman, of St. Paul, a passenger in Ellingboe’s car.”

    According to another article, the head-on crash occurred on U.S. 371 about 3 miles south of Brainerd early Wednesday morning. Berg died of his injuries on Friday.

    Edmund and Margaret lived at 2562 Lumni View Dr in Bellingham in 1982 and 1986 and at 7054 Old Guide Rd in Lynden, Washington, in 1989.

    In the 1950 census, he and Margaret and their three children lived in Palatine in King County, Washington. He was a house painter.

    His obit said that he purchase property at Gooseberry Point in 1955 but he resided mostly in New Halem from 1951 until he retired in 1973. He worked as a painter for Seattle City Light.

    In the 1910 census he is called Ellenbaugh. He lives with his wife Marge and daughter Margaret at 1420 4th St. S. in Minneapolis. His occupation is salesman, perhaps of coffee.

    When Edwin was born in 1911, George was a salesman. He and his family lived at 3605 24th Avenue South.

    In the 1916 Minneapolis city directory, he was Geo A Ellingboe, driver, residing at 3605 24th Avenue S.

    In the 1918 city directory, he and Magda live at 3521 22nd Ave S. He is a driver, Magda is a maid.

    Registered for the draft as George Andrew Ellingboe in Minneapolis on September 12, 1918. This George lives at 3521 22nd Avenue South and was born on August 14, 1878. He is native-born U. S. citizen. He is employed by the Minneapolis Steel and Machinery Company, 32nd and Snellling Ave. S.. “making shells.” He shows his nearest relative as Magda Ellingboe, 3521 22nd Avenue. He was described as of medium height and build with brown eyes and dark hair.

    At the time of his death (as George Ellingboe), he was living at 2207 E. 36th Street in Minneapolis. He was a laborer at Minneapolis Steel and Machinery Co. He died of bronchopneumonia due to influenza. The informant for his death certificate was Albert A. of Kerkhoven.

    His obit in the Willmar newspaper noted that he had served as a salesman at the Moen & Gandrud store for several years.

    Magda, Margret, and Edmund visited Norway in 1914. She and the children arrived in New York on August 18, 1914, aboard the S.S. United States which had departed from Christiania on August 7th. Margret birth year is erroneously shown as 1910 on the passenger manifest. She gives the address of her husband as 3605 24th Avenue South, Minneapolis.

    In the 1918 Minneapolis city directory, she is Magda Ellingboe, maid, living at 3521 22nd Avenue.

    In the 1920 census, the widowed Magda and her 2 children live with widower Engveld Heeton and his daughter Mabel in York Twp, Benson County, North Dakota. Engveld is a farmer. Magda is a housekeeper. She came to the U.S. in 1907.

    In the 1923 Minneapolis city directory, she is a cook. She lives at 3527 23rd Avenue S.

    In the 1924 Minneapolis city directory, she is Magda Ellingboe, widow of Geo, a maid who rooms at 3527 23rd Avenue S.

    In the 1927 Minneapolis city directory, she is Magda Ellingboe, widow of Geo, living at 3516 24th Avenue S.

    In the 1930 census, she is married to Christiansen A Anderson and is living in Fresno County, California, with her husband and son. Christ is a farmer. Magda came to the U.S. in 1908, Christ in 1902.

    She died as Magda Iverson in Alameda County, California, on 1 Apr 1977. That Magda had been born 7 Oct 1889 outside the U.S.

    He farmed in Norway Lake Twp, Kandiyohi County. He came to the U.S. in 1872 according to the 1900 census.

    A Norway Lake church history says that Andrew first came to Wisconsin in 1872.

    In the 1865 Norwegian census, he is most likely Anders Jørgenssen, age 13, son of Jørgen Evensson and Anne Thomasdatter of Pladsen farm in Vang.

    The 1886 land ownership map for Norway Lake Twp in Kandiyohi County shows A J Ellingboe owning three separate parcels: 1) a 159 acre parcel in the southern half of Section 19, a 40 acre parcel in the northern half of Section 19, and a 40 acre parcel in Section 7.

    In a 1915 land ownership map of Kandiyohi County, Andrew owned 160 acres in the southern half of Section 19 of Norway Lake Twp. This plot was a mile from Sunburg and abutted the county line border between Swift and Kandiyohi Counties.

    He died of laryngeal tuberculosis which led to asphyxiation. The Willmar newspaper’s obit (February 15th edition) said that the death was unexpected and caused by a complication of bronchial troubles and pneumonia.

    Jim’s Valdres Slekt tree shows Sigrid as #I54394. It has her birthdate as 3 Nov 1859 and her death date as 16 June 1921. Vang church book has her birth date as 8 Nov.

    In the 1900 census, she had had 15 children, 12 still living. (The list below includes the 13 children alive at the time of the 1900 census.) Those numbers are 17 and 12 in the 1910 census.

    She came to the U.S. in 1861. A Norway Lake church history says that Sigrid came to Iowa in 1861 and moved to Norway Lake in 1871.

    In the 1920 census, she is a widow, head-of-household, living on a farm in Norway Lake Twp with her children and daughter-in-law and “step-father” Asle Frövold.

    Sigrid died of diabetes.
