Elizabeth “Betty” Magdeline Ewers, 81, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at the Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua.

Betty was born on Jan. 7, 1934, at home in Ferryville, Crawford County, to Lewis and Minnie (Sandy) Erickson. On Oct. 4, 1958, she married Corliss Ewers. They were later divorced. Betty worked for many years raising tobacco. She enjoyed playing cards and going to rummage sales with her sisters.

Betty is survived by two children, son, Calvin Ewers of Soldiers Grove and daughter, Tammy (Al) Haakenson of Westby; one grandson, Brandon Haakenson and fiancé Kristina Jothen of Coon Valley; two great-grandchildren, Caden and Carlie Haakenson; one sister-in-law, Ruth Erickson of Gays Mills; special friend, Paul Nundahl of Viroqua {#13067}; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Lawrence, Leslie, Marvin, Orlando, Tommy and Bernard Sandy; five sisters, Myrtle (Harold) Hackett, Geneva (Selmer) Nundahl, Elnora Erickson, Elvina Bailey and Darlene Nundahl; four nephews, Herbert and John Hackett, Tony Nundahl and John Erickson.

Elizabeth married Corliss EWERS on 4 Oct 1958 in Viroqua, Vernon County, Wisconsin, and was divorced. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

In the 1920 census, as Louis, he was a farmer in Franklin Twp.

In the 1930 census, as Lewis, he was a farmer in Freeman Twp, Crawford County.

In the 1940 census, as Lewis, he was a farmer in Kickapoo Twp, Vernon County. He had a fourth-grade education, his wife Minnie had a sixth-grade education.

Lewis married Minnie Aleta SANDY about 1916. Minnie was born on 1 Feb 1894 in Ferryville, Crawford County, Wisconsin; died on 17 Jun 2001; was buried in West Prairie Hauge Lutheran Cemetery, Vernon County, Wisconsin. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
