He was living at home with his parents in North Mankato in the 1920 census. He was a truck driver for a furniture store.

He and Helen and Kenneth still lived in North Mankato in the 1940 census. He was a truck driver doing general hauling. Also living with the family was the 40 year-old Frances Dennison, sister-in-law.

In the 1960 Mankato city directory, he was the supervisor in charge of the North Mankato Water Works.

In the 1865 Norwegian census, he is shown as age 3 meaning he was born in 1863. He is the son of the owner of the Sætre, Solvi farms (53 and 56) in Hafslo.

Emigrated August 3, 1899. Family followed May, 1900.

In the 1910 census, he and his family lived in the city of Brookings, South Dakota, where Hans was a railroad section laborer. He owns the house that they live in but with a mortgage. Hans came to the U.S. in 1898, Bertha and the kids in 1899.

In the 1914 Mankato city directory, he is a laborer for the J B Nelson Co. He and his family live at 433 Belgrade Ave in N Mankato.

In the 1920 census, he and his family lived in the village of North Mankato in Nicollet County, Minnesota. Hans was a street commissioner for the village. Carrie and John were not at home but the other five children still were. Christine and Monsine were sales ladies at a dry goods store. Leonard was a truck driver for a furniture store. Lillian was a teller at a bank.

Hans married Berthe Monsdatter EIKUM. Berthe (daughter of Mons Schanke Monson EIKUM and Kari Larsdatter LIE) was born on 22 Jul 1857 in Hafslo, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway; died on 22 Feb 1925 in Nicollet County, Minnesota; was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Blue Earth County, Minnesota.
