Survived by wife, Verda; son, Paul & wife Kathie; daughter-in-law, Frances Anderson; also survived by numerous grandchildren, relatives and friends. Memorial service will be Wed., May 8, 10:30 AM at All Saints Lutheran Church, 511 Merger St., Norwood Young America. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

    Anderson, Verda (Dahl) age 98, passed on peacefully August 1, 2006. Preceded in death by husband, Harold and sons, Paul and Tyler. Survived by sister, Inger Kennedy of Spring Park; daughters- in-law, Frances Anderson of Robbinsdale and Kathie Anderson of Mayer; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. The family is grateful for the compassionate care of the staff at Presbyterian Homes Mtka, where she resided for the past 3 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to All Saints Lutheran Church, Norwood-Young America or Presbyterian Homes on Lake Minnetonka. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

    According to the Bergh-Anderson files, his parents were Christian Albert Anderson and Maren Sophie. These files say that Albert started out as a farmer in Drake, North Dakota, and then moved to Montevideo.

    The 24 year-old Albert C. Anderson, hardware merchant, appears to be living with the Berghs in Audubon Twp in the 1895 state census. He was a native of the enumeration district.

    The family was living in Spring Grove Twp, McHenry County, North Dakota, in the 1910 census. Living with the family was Anna Kvien, Albert’s 47-year-old married (and, apparently, childless) sister. At that time, Eliza had had 5 children, all 5 still living.

    All children were still living at home in the 1920 census. At that time they lived in Drake in Spring Grove Twp, McHenry County, North Dakota. Albert was a farmer.

    In the 1930 census, she is the 53 year-old widow Elese Anderson living in Montevideo, Chippewa County, Minnesota. Living with her are Roma, 26, Kermit, 18, and Elizabeth, 14. Roma is a registered nurse working in a doctor’s office.

    In the 1940 census, she and her two daughters lived at 118 Fourth in Montevideo. The daughters had each had three years of college and both were nurses. Elise had had one year of college.

    At the time of her brother Luthard’s death in 1948, she was Mrs. Elisa Anderson of Newport, Kentucky.

    She died from heart disease at her residence, 322 E 3rd Street in Covington. The informant for her death certificate was Mrs. David K. Leyser, her daughter.

    She was born in Montevideo according to her death certificate. An Anderson source says that Elise was born in Yellow Medicine County. Yellow Medicine County is just across the river from Montevideo.

    Birth information from Hermund.

    According to his wife’s brother’s notes, maintained in the family by Hermund, Ole departed Norway on Friday, October 23, 1874, at 4:00 PM. He departed Stavanger for Hull aboard the feeder ship Argo after having been brought over to Stavanger from Mosterøy by his future brother-in-law, David Nicolaison. At this point, Ole was engaged to Tabitha and she would apparently depart later for the U.S.

    According to one of his great-grandsons, there were two Ole Nilsons who were pastors within the Evangelical Norwegian Luthern Church in Minnesota. This Ole added the surname Bergh as a way to differentiate himself and get his mail.

    One of Hermund’s sources says that Ole studied for a year at Augsburg before being sent out to Yellow Medicine County.

    Shown as Ole N., age 37, in the 1880 census. The family was living in the town of Lisbon, Yellow Medicine County and consisted of Ole, Tobitta, 26, Eliza, 4, and Constance, 2.

    The family was living in Becker County, Audubon Township, Minnesota, at the time of the 1885 Minnesota State Census. Also apparently living with the family were 3 native-born Norwegian women: Inga L. Aarstad, 14; Elisabel Enokson, 30; and Bertel Vaagedahl, 28.

    They were still in Becker County, Audubon Twp, at the time of the 1895 Minnesota census. O.N. had been in Minnesota for 19 years and 4 months and had been in the enumeration district for 11 years, 10 months.

    The family was still living in Audubon, Becker County, in the 1900 census.

    The family (Manda and Gerhard were still living at home) was in Climax, Vineland Twp, Polk County in the 1910 census.

    Living at 118 North 5th Street in Montevideo in the 1920 census. The family is Ole N., 77, Tabetie, 65, and Manda, daughter, 30. Ole is a pastor in the Norwegian Lutheran Church and Manda is a clerk at a doctor’s office.

    O. N. emigrated in 1874.

    He was a Free Church pastor who began his ministry in 1876.

    He was the fourth pastor of the Ringsaker Lutheran Free Church of rural Buxton, Belmont Twp, Traill County, North Dakota. That congregation was organized in 1891. His stay in North Dakota must have been brief.

    His son-in-law Ludwig Lima was his doctor and was the informant for his death certificate. Ole died from Bright’s disease and heart lesions. He had lived in Montevideo for six years and died at 118 N 4th. His parents were Nils Nilson and Elizabeth Olson.

    In the 1900 census, she was shown as having had 7 children, 6 still living. Shown as Tabitha in that census. She emigrated in 1875.

    A Tabite Nikolaisen was born 26 Jan 1854 in Gjestal, Rogaland, according to FamilySearch. The parish record for Gjesdal in Lye shows that she was Tabithe, daughter of Nicolai Davidsen Edland and Caroline Svendsdatter Edland.

    Hermund confirms that Tabitha was born in Gjesdal. The exact location of the original Edland farm is on a protuberance of land on the west end of the Edlandsvatnet lake, just south of the city of Ålgård.

    Tabitha’s father Nicolai and brother Christian Edland sold their farms in Gjesdal and moved to Mosterøy on 14 April 1861 where she was raised.

    She was confirmed as Tabitta Nicolaisdatter Edland-Vold.

    She emigrated from Rennesøy on 20 April 1875 as Tabette Edland.
