Notes:

When he applied for the draft he was a paper hanger for the Radisson Hotel in Minneapolis. He and his wife lived at 2625 28th Avenue. He was married and was described as of medium height, slender build, with gray eyes and light brown hair.

In the 1920 census, he and his family lived in Minneapolis, still at 2625 28th Avenue S. He was a housepainter in the hotel industry.

In the 1930 census, they’re at 3951 17th Avenue S in a house that they own. He is a decorator in the painting and paperhanging industry. He is not a veteran.

He died in Hennepin County in 1930 or 1944.

William married Cora Pauline ELLESTAD on 26 Jun 1915 in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Cora (daughter of Endre O ELLESTAD and Ingeborg Marie MOSCOWS) was born on 15 Dec 1894 in Minnesota; died on 2 Oct 1994 in Hennepin County, Minnesota. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

He is the “Andrew Ellestad” who Rose refers to in her interview with Evey in the early 1970s. Andrew went to South Dakota with Erick Thompson and Tom Thompson in the mid 1880s. Later Andrew went to Clarissa and was probably the reason that Erick Thompson and family moved to Clarissa.

Rose maintained that her uncle Tom Thompson and Tom’s wife Rangdi Ellestad (Andrew Ellestad’s sister) were 2nd cousins. _That_ implies that either Anne Endrisdatter Baggethun or Ole Vilhelmsen Ellestad were first cousins of Andrew Thompson or Rangdi Kvale. None of that is true.

He is the 69 year-old Endrew Ellestad, husband of Sigrid, father of Evelyn and Clara, living in Clarissa, Todd County, Minnesota, in the 1930 census. He was born in Norway and came to the U.S. in 1882. Endrew was a dairy farmer.

He is the 58 year-old E. O. Ellestad, a carpenter in the village of Clarissa in the 1920 census. He came to the U.S. in 1885.

In the 1910 census, he is a widower in Todd County. His three children are liing with him.

In the 1900 census, he is probably Andrew Ellested living in Ward Twp, Todd County, born Mar 1861 in Norway. He is the husband of Ingebor and the father of Stella, John, and Cora. He came to the U.S. in 1883.

In the 1895 state census, he is living in Eureka Twp, Dakota County. The household consists of Andrew, 33, Ingebor M., 25, Estella, 4, John O., 2, and Cora, 6 months.

The informant for his death certificate was William Duda of Clarissa. (The Dudas lived one farm away from Endre and Ole in the 1910 census. William was 14 years old.) Endre had been in the U.S. for 38 years.

Endre died of stomach cancer.

Endre Olsen was confirmed in Vestre Slidre on 18 Jun 1876. The entry in church book says he was born on 14 Mar 1861, baptized on 28 Jul and there are some other notations that I don’t understand. His farm name is Bagetun Vang Ellestad and his parents were Ole Vilhelmson and Anne Endresdatter.

Sponsors for his baptism were Randi Wilhelmsdatter Lund, Gunhild Andersdatter Ellingboe, Sigrid Jørgensdatter Ellingboe, Endre Johnson Bagethun, and John Endressen Bagethun.

The 42 year-old widower Endre Olsen Ellestad of Clarissa, Minnesota, entered the U.S. at New York aboard the S.S. Celtic on 25 April 1903 following a ten-day voyage from Liverpool. He was still a citizen of Norway. Traveling with him was his brother Ole and their nephew, 22 year-old Ole Knudsen Ellestad of Vestre Slidre.

Endre married Ingeborg Marie MOSCOWS about 1890. Ingeborg was born on 21 Aug 1870 in Minnesota; died on 23 Nov 1900; was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Browerville, Todd County, Minnesota. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

Maiden name spelled Moskau in Cora’s death certificate.

In the 1900 census, she had had 4 children, 3 still living.

Her death is not listed in the index of Minnesota deaths which begins in 1904.

He is Ola Vilhjølmson Lund, I8745, in Jim’s VS.

He was gaardbruger selveier on the Faarhaugene farm 26a in Vestre Slidre in the 1865 census.

There was also an Ole Vilhelmson Lund born 12 January, baptized 18 Jan 1826. His parents were Vilhelm Olsen and Anne Olsdatter. He was confirmed on 28 Jun 1840.

In the 1900 Norwegian census, Ole and Anne lived on the Ellestad 23/4 farm in Vestre Slidre with their son Jon Olssen Ellestad, b. 1870 in Vestre Slidre, and, apparently, their grandson Ole Knutssen Ellestad, b. 1881 in Vestre Slidre.

Ole married Anne Endrisdatter BAGGETHUN. Anne (daughter of Endre Johnson ELLINGBØ and Margrethe Thomasdatter) was born on 14 Apr 1829 in Vang i Valdres, Oppland, Norway; died in Unknown. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
