    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Minnesota Death Certificate: 1944-MN-015790

    Notes:

Per Yvonne and her sources, including Chris, Per Petersson, farmhand, moved from Mjudehult in Karlslunda/Arby, Sweden, to Vossevangen, Norway, on 7 January 1881. He was the stepson of navy soldier Olaus Pettersson Löfving married to Stina Larsdotter. Per was born in Torsås 2 June 1853. The birth book in Torsås says Peter August (!) born 2 June 1853 to maid Stina Larsdotter (no father given) at Isaksmåla farm. He had been to Norway earlier because he has a note of 'work permit' 1880.

Yvonne and her sources say that Peter went from Sweden to Norway on that 1880 work permit presumably as a laborer who worked on the Vossebanen (Bergen - Voss) railroad which opened in 1883.

In the 1900 census, he was a farmer in Ward Twp, Todd County, Minnesota. He and his family are listed next to the Erick Thompsons (#219) on the 1900 census form. The same was true for the 1905 Minnesota state census and the 1910 U.S. census.

In the 1920 census, the Thompsons have left Todd County but Peter, his wife, and their three younger sons still live in Todd County but now Eagle Valley Twp.

In the 1930 census, Peter and Amanda still live in Eagle Valley Twp but now Peter’s widowed son Anton and Anton’s five children live with them.

Per married Anne Olsdatter ELLESTAD on 12 Apr 1881 in Voss, Hordaland, Norway. Anne (daughter of Ole Vilhelmson LUND ELLESTAD and Anne Endrisdatter BAGGETHUN) was born on 13 Feb 1853 in Vang i Valdres, Oppland, Norway; died about 1890. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Baptism: 8 Apr 1853, Vang i Valdres, Oppland, Norway

    Notes:

She was born before her parents married. Her parents were Ole Vilhelmson Lund and Anne Endresdatter Baggethun. Anders Tollefson Baggethun was the responsible person of the parish for the illegitimate Anne.

The Vang migration records show that she left Vang for Voss in January of 1881 to get married.

Yvonne and her sources believe that Anna died after she and her children arrived in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, on May 12, 1890. Peter arrived in Quebec on Aug 10, 1889. Peter (and maybe Anna and the kids) went on to Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Called Anna Olson in her son Anton’s death certificate, the informant for which was her husband, and Anton’s father, Peter Hultgren of Clarissa.
