    According to the Windsor Family Tree, among other trees on Ancestry.com, Fred was the son of Olaf Dahlberg and Sophia Olsdotter Ryrfelt of Värmlands län, Sweden. By the time of the 1870 census, Olaf, Sofia, and their family were farming near Grantsburg, Wisconsin, in Burnett County.

    In the 1880 census, Fred, 29, and his wife Maria, 23, were living in Trade Lake Twp, Burnett County, Wisconsin. Living with them were Fred’s brother Aron, 21, and Fred and Maria’s daughter, Emma M, age 1. Also living with them were Fred’s and Aron’s father, Olaf, 57, Olaf’s wife Maria C., 53, and Olaf’s daughter, Hilma, 11.

    In the 1885 Minnesota state census, Fred, Mary, Effie, 4, and Erick, 5 months, lived in Minneapolis. Living with them were Adolph Davidson, 23, Fred Johnson, 24, Emma Davidson, 15, and “C.G.”, 25.

    In the 1895 Minnesota state census, “Fredrick” Dahlberg, 44, lived with his family at 2109 16th Avenue in Minneapolis. He was a carpenter. In addition to Fredrick, the household consisted of Maria, 38, Edward A, 10, Osker F, 8, Andrew A, 6, Marie V, 4, Nettie R, 2, and August Fager, 32, and John Fager, 24. The two Fagers were born in Minnesota. August was a station engineer and John was a fireman.

    According to the plat of Minnetonka Twp in the 1898 Hennepin County land ownership map, “F. Dahlberg” owned an 80 acre parcel in Section 1. Specifically, his 80 was the east half of the southwest quarter of Section 1. Today, this is the area north of Hopkins High School, south of Highway 394 (old Wayzata Boulevard), that is roughly bounded by Runnymeade Lane, Windsor Lake, Traymore Road, Crestridge Drive, and Welland Avenue.

    In the 1900 census, he was Frictiof Dahlberg, a farmer in Minnetonka Twp. he had come to the U.S. in 1868 and was a naturalized citizen. According to that census, he owned his farm but with a mortgage. The household consisted of Frictiof, 49, b. Feb 1851, Mary F, 43, b. Oct 1856, Effie, 17, b. Oct 1882, Oscar, 13, b. Feb 1887, Andrew, 11, b. Dec 1888, Virginia, 9, b. Nov 1890, and Nettie, 7, b. Apr 1893. Also living with them was John Fager, 33, farm laborer.

    In the 1905 state census, Fred and his family lived on a farm in Minnetonka where they had lived for 5 years and 1 month. The household consisted of Fred, 54, Mary, 48, Effie M., 22, Oscar F., 18, Andrew H., 16, Mary V., 14, and Nettie R., 12. Also living with them or next door was John “Fauger,” 36, nursery man and Malina Fauger, 33, nursery woman.

    In the 1910 census, Fred and Mary lived on a farm in Minnetonka Twp with their children Oscar, Virginia, and Nettie.

    In the 1920 census, he is apparently a widower living with his son Oscar.

    In the 1930 census, he is a widower living with his daughter, Effie Lund, and her family.

    At the time of the 1900 census, she had borne 8 children, only 5 still living. She came to the U.S. in 1861 and was not a citizen at the time of the 1900 census.

    The 8 born, 5 living numbers are repeated in the 1910 census.

    The informant for her death certificate was her husband Fred. She died from abdominal cancer. A note on her death certificate said that an exploratory incision had been made 10 weeks before her death but “everything was a solid mass.”
