    In the 1920 census he is living with his parents and siblings in Fargo, North Dakota. He has no occupation.

    According to a Trønderlag source, Arne was a window washer for the city of Minneapolis and “died in a tragic accident on the job.” His death certificate says that he fell four stories into an alley near 808 Nicollet Avenue. He had been a window washer for 18 years. Arne and his family lived at 734 E 18th Street.

    In the 1940 census, she is still Anne Pederson. She and her children live with her sister, Charlotte Stevenson, and her children, in Los Angeles. Anne owns the house at 429 East 120th Street, worth $1000. Charlotte is a registrar at a health care clinic.

    An Anne E Pederson, b. 16 Aug 1907 in North Dakota, died 25 Aug 1969 in Los Angeles.

    In the 1900 census, as Christ Peterson, he and his family live at 525 19th Avenue in Minneapolis. He was a teamster. The household consisted of Christ, b. Nov 1871, Nellie, b. Jan 1880, Harold, b. Oct 1898, and Parnell, “daughter”, b. April 1900. Christ had come to this country in 1882.

    He was one of the charter members of Trønderlag of America in 1908. This was (and still is) the bygdelag for emigrants and their descendants from the Trøndelag region of Norway.

    In the 1910 census, he and his family and his wife’s two siblings live at 2311 32nd Street in Minneapolis. He came to the U.S. in 1888. His occupation is lodge organizer. A Trønderlag source says that he was an organizer for the Sons of Norway.

    In the 1920 census, the Christoffer Pederson family is living in Fargo, North Dakota, where he is a grocery merchant. He came to the U.S. in 1878.

    In the 1930 census, he and Nellie and Norman are back in Minneapolis at 510 East Franklin in a house that they are renting. Christoffer is the proprietor of a grocery store. Nellie is his saleslady. Norman has no occupation.

    General Hospital was the informant for the information on his death certificate. He was married, his wife was Nellie. Christoffer died of heat stroke. He had worked up to the day before he died. He had been a grocer for 7 years and had been in Minneapolis for 50 years. His residence was 510 East Franklin. Christoffer’s parents were Peter Ydstie and Gurane somebody.

    In the 1940 census, she is the 60 year-old widow Nellie T Pederson and lives with her daughter and son-in-law in Vancouver, Washington. Five years earlier, she had lived in Minneapolis.

    He is the Tosten, son of Nels Christopherson and Berith Tostensdatter “Böesjet” born in Vang on 13 Nov 1848 and baptized on 31 Dec 1848.

    In the 1880 census he was Torstein (”Sorstein”) Flaten or Flaton, 31, living in Minneapolis (”Lower Levee”) with his wife Rangdi, 23, and their three daughters Bertha, 5, Margaret, 2, and Annie, 4 months (born in January). Torstein is a carpenter.

    He is shown in the 1885 state census as T. N. Flaten, living in Minneapolis. The household is himself, 35, “Maude”, 30, Bertie, 10, Dorothea, 8, Nellie, 5, and Nels, 2.

    The 1895 census showed that he had been in Minnesota for 26 years which would be consistent with him and Randi emigrating in 1869. Tosten was a dairyman and he and his family lived at 1604 East Lake Street. The household consisted of himself, 47, Randa, 40, Bertha, 20, Margarite, 18, Nellie, 15, Balder, 7, Nordie, 7, Walter, 5, and Mable, 2.

    Her family farm name was called Sönderold in her birth record.

    In the 1865 Norwegian census, she is 12 years old and living with her parents and siblings on Søndrohl, mitre, in Vang.

    This Randi is the Rangdi Søndvol to whom Ove Ovesen Ellingbø refers in his 1896 letter to his mother. According to Trudy: “She first married Torstein Flaten from Bøaflatadn in Vang. They lived in Minneapolis until Torstein died in 1895. She took the children back to Norway for a few months and then went back to Minnesota, settling in Sunburg where she married Torstein Hollen, born in Hoverstad 63 in Vang. He was a widower with children. They had 2 children. She died in Minneapolis in 1909 and he died in Sunburg in 1930. I don't know if they stayed married or not.”

    In the 1895 Minnesota census, she (Randa) and her family lived at 1604 E. Lake Street in Minneapolis. Tosten, 47, was a “dairyman.”

    In the 1900 federal census, she and her second husband, Thosten Hollen, and her and their children lived in Kerkhoven Twp, Swift County. Randi came to the U.S. in 1869 and Thosten in 1866. Randi had had 10 children, 9 still living. The children from her first marriage that were living with her were Baldor, 14 (b. Feb 1886), Nordal, 12 (b. Jan 1888), and Walter, 9 (b. July 1890).

    In the 1905 state census, Tosten and his and her children still lived in Kerkhoven. Rangdy, however, along with four of her children from her first marriage were living separately on a farm in Murdock, Kerkhoven Twp. Rangdy and her children are listed with the last name Flattan. Those children are: Baldor, 19, Nordahl, 17, Valtor, 14, and Meble, 12. They live next door to Ole and Sigre Ellestad (#1953 and #1956).

    She is Ronda Flaten on her death certificate. In that certificate, she is identified as a widow living at 2011 2-1/2 Street in Minneapolis. She married at 19 and had 10 children, 8 of whom were still alive at her death. No informant is named on her death certificate. She died of pulmonary tuberculosis which she had had for “8 or 10 years.” Her father was Thosten Sondrol and her mother was unknown. She was buried at “Layman’s.”
