    Notes:

    He registered for the draft in Otter Tail County on June 5, 1917. At that time he was married and was a self-employed farmer in Aastad Twp, Otter Tail County. He was described as tall and slender with dark blue eyes and dark hair.

    In the 1920 census, he was a farmer in Portage Twp, South Dakota.

    In the 1930 census, he was a cookware salesman in the city of Glendive, Dawson County, Montana.

    He survived his brother Leo. At the time of Leo’s death in November of 1953, Wesley lived in Orick, California.

    Notes:

    He was a farmer in Spink Twp, Union County, South Dakota, in the 1900 census.

    He was a liveryman in a livery stable in the city of Vermillion, Clay County, South Dakota, in the 1910 census.

    He was a farmer in Western Twp, Otter Tail County, in the 1920 census. At that time, the oldest two children were no longer living at home but the younger two still were.

    In the 1930 census, he was a widower living with his sister’s family (Josie and Harvey Welch) on their farm in Sioux Valley Twp, Union County, South Dakota. Eugene was a poultryman. Also living with the family was Eugene and Josie’s 80 year-old mother Louise.

    An article in the Minneapolis Tribune, 31 Aug 1936, said that Eugene died suddenly from a heart attack in Des Moines. He had been visiting his sister, Mrs. Harvey Welch, Akron, Iowa, and was en route to the Iowa state fair when he died.
