    William was a farmer in Amherst Twp, Portage County, Wisconsin, in the 1900 census.

    He was still in Amherst Twp in the 1910 census. By then his son Boyd had left home.

    By 1920, Myrtle has left home too.

    In the 1930 census, William and Thora are living by themselves in a house they own on High Street in Nelsonville village, Amherst Twp, Portage County. They don’t have a radio.

    His obit said that he had been a resident of Nelsonville for the past 12 years. He had suffered a stroke six years before his death and had been in poor health ever since. He had been confined to his bed for 13 months.

    She and Nels were living in Portage County in the 1900 census. She had had 5 children, 3 still living.

    She was a widow in the 1880 census. The family was living in the village of Amherst and going by the last name of Buck, at least according to the census entry. Billy, 19, Anna 15, and Nels E., 13, were all living at home with her. Billy was a farmer but none of the rest of them had occupations.

    Some of the church records for the birth and baptism of her children call her Mathia or Mathea Nilsdatter.

    An article in the Stevens Point Journal on her death said that she died from breast cancer and was survived by two sons and a daughter.
