In the 1900 census, he is the 3 month-old Ester J, a daughter, born in February of 1900.

He graduated from Kelso High School (in Washington but apparently near Portland, Oregon), in May of 1919.

In the 1930 census, he and his family lived in Portland, Oregon, where Estes was a credit manager for a saw manufacturing company.

Estes married Ethel A about 1924. Ethel was born about 1900 in Iowa; died in Assumed. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

It is speculative that the William Williamson of Cowlitz County is the William Williamson who was born to William and Anne in Portage County. The birth dates ascribed to the Cowlitz County William are not consistent with each other and are not all consistent with the June 1859 date.

In the 1880 census, he may or may not be the 21 year-old farm hand William Williamson living on the O. John Johnson farm in Minnehaha County, Dakota Territory.

In the 1900 census, the family lives in Stella, Cowlitz County, Washington. He is 38 years old and was born in Wisconsin in September of 1861. He owned his farm with a mortgage.

In the 1910 census the family is in Portland, Oregon. All the children are at home. The senior William is a farmer.

In the 1920 census the family is in Stella, Washington. William is a farmer. Living with him and Ida is their daughter-in-law, Anna L., 23, their grand-son, Lester, ten months, and Maxina Butler, 5, “niece”, born in Mississippi. A Lester S Williamson married Thelma D Westerdahl in Vancouver, Clark County, Washington, on 13 Dec 1941.

In the 1930 census he is William Williamson, 71, living in Stella Precinct, Cowlitz County, Washington, with his wife, Ida L., 57, and their 40 year-old single son William H. The older William is a farmer, the younger William is a bookkeeper for a logging camp.

In the 1940 census, he is William Williamson (erroneously indexed as Willianson in Ancestry), living with Ida in Cowlitz County in the same house in which they had both lived in 1935. Both had had eighth-grade educations.

Notes:

She may be the sister of Francis Weist, b. June 1876 in Pennsylvania, who lives with his wife Mand not far from William and Ida in the 1900 census. There are also some other Weists nearby who may be her parents.

In the 1900 census she had had 6 children, all still living.

In the 1910 census she had had 6 children, all 6 still living at home.

He is the William Williamson, farm laborer, living in Amherst, Portage County, Wisconsin, not far from Buck Williamson in the 1870 census.

Only Mattie and Severt are still living at home with Anne and him in the 1880 census although also living with them is a four-year-old grandson named Frank H. O’Donald whose father was born in Ireland. Presumably little Frank’s mother is either Anne the younger or Mary.

Vilhjølm married Anne Sÿvertsdatter. Anne was born in Feb 1832 in Norway; died before 1920 in Wisconsin. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

In the 1900 census, she is Anna Williamson, a 68 year-old (b. Feb 1832) widow living with her daughter Anna and the younger Anna’s husband, Clark Lyon, in the village of Grand Rapids in Wood County, Wisconsin. She had come to the U.S. in 1845. She had had 5 children, 4 still living.

In the 1910 census, she had had 8 children, 4 still living, and she had come to the U.S. in 1884.

In the 1865 census, he and Anne and Tina and Gjertrud lived on Baggethun. He was Føderaadsmand in the household of Trond Boiesen, huusfar. Presumably, Trond Bøyessen Stele assumed ownership of the family farm after Ove Vilhjølmsen, previous heir, left for America in 1849. Wilhelm and Anne and their daughters then continued to live on the farm.

Vilhjølm married Anna Ovesdotter BERGE in 1816 in Vang i Valdres, Oppland, Norway. Anna (daughter of Ove Bøyesen WANGENSTEEN and Gerhardine (Tina) Geelmynden ANKER) was born in 1798 in Vang i Valdres, Oppland, Norway; died in 1885 in Vang i Valdres, Oppland, Norway. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
