    The Whiteley family tree calls him Ulysses Warren Hopper, born 18 Oct 1863 in Coloma and dying in 1940 in Alberta.

    In the 1900 census, a Ulysses W Hopper, b. June 1864 in Wisconsin, is a single farmer in Benson County, North Dakota. The parents of that Ulysses had been born in Norway.

    In the 1906 Canadian provincial census, a 41 year-old Ulysses Hopper lived in Saskatchewan.
