She married William Gustaf Anderson who was a widower with 5 living children. She had one son of her own from a previous relationship. Together they had 8 more children, my mother being one of them. After Grandpa died, Grandma Nancy married Lester Lant. She outlived Lester and remained a widow until she died in 1981, lacking 8 days of being 90 years old.”

    Notes:

Lived next door to the Erik Petersons in the 1895 state census.

“Killed at the brickyard crossing” in Little Falls, Minnesota, in the winter of 1899-1900. He was hit by a train while hauling cut trees.

He may have immigrated in 1880 but we know that Anna Charlotta came to the U.S. in 1882. For some reason they returned to Sweden and came back again in 1886. Their daughter, Astrid (Esther), was born in Sweden and celebrated her first birthday on the boat on the return to NY in July of 1886. They lived in Troy NY until 1891 or so and then moved to Little Falls, Minnesota. Alfred died in 1900 and left Anna with 8 kids; the oldest being 18. The youngest child was born after Alfred died, in June of 1900. She died when she was about 3. Her name was Olive.

She is not the Anna Anderson who died in Morrison County on 24 Oct 1944 (1944-MN-008505).

Jan Johansson says that Emibas has her getting permission to leave Sweden (from Gustafsberg, Värmdö, Stockholms län (Uppland)) on 26 April 1882 and actually leaving the country for New York on 12 May 1882. She is shown as unmarried. She and her two daughters, Anna and Astrid, left Sweden the second time on 25 June 1886. The embarkation point was Göteborg both times.

In the 1905 state census, she and her family lived in Pike Creek Twp next to Sophia Peterson and her two children. Still living at home with Anna was Esther, 20, a domestic. The remainder of the children must have been listed on the back of the page, on a page that is missing, or were otherwise unrecorded.

The 1900 census reports that she had borne 8 children, all 8 still living. The 1910 census said only 7 still living. Harry, Herman, and Ethel were listed at home in 1910.

She was living in Minneapolis with her daughter Anna and Anna’s husband, as well as her daughter Ethel, at the time of the 1920 census.
