Notes:

The informant for her death certificate was her son Alfred. She lived in Sacred Heart and died from a heart attack following hip surgery. She fell on a rug in her home on March 8, 1964.

Her maiden name was Hollen according to her daughter Lillian’s death record and according to her daughter Clara’s death record. She was called Netta Evanson on Ole’s death certificate.

Most likely, and assumed here, he was born Helge Evenssen in Vang. He was called Helge Evensson Höverstad when he left Vang for the U.S. in March of 1862 at age 19. His death certificate, for which the informant was his son-in-law, shows his father’s name as Helge Holen Hoverstad.

He was a farmer in Wang Twp, Renville County, in the 1880, 1885, 1895, and 1900 censuses. In the 1910 census, he is retired with “own income” and is, apparently, letting his daughter and son-in-law run the farm.

In the 1895 census, he claimed to have been in Minnesota for 34 years, 24 of which were in the present enumeration district. In the 1900 census, he came to the U.S. in 1862.

Helge died of stomach cancer.

In the 1900 census, she had had only one child, one still living. She came to the U.S. in 1872. The 1900 census erroneously shows her birthyear as 1835.

In the 1910 census, she came to the U.S. in 1868. That is confirmed by the church book emigration record. She left in April.

In the 1920 census, she is a widow living with her daughter and son-in-law in Wang Twp, Renville County.

He was a soldier in Norway. He was the heir to his father’s plass in Høllen on Høverstad.

He and Anne were living on Høllen in the 1865 census with their children Sigri, age 19, Anne, age 17, Kristofer, age 12, and Ingri, age 7.

The records of the Norway Lake Lutheran churches have this entry for Even: “Even H. Hollen, born in Balders, married with Anna Tostenson, born in Balders. To Goodhue County 1866.”

In the 1870 census, he and his family lived in Warsaw Twp, Goodhue County, Minnesota. The household consisted of Even Helgeson, 67, Anna, 49, Christopher, 15, Even, 8, and Ida, 11.

In the 1880 census, he was Even Helgerson, now living with his family in Kerkhoven Twp, Swift County. His household consisted of Even, 77, Anne, 60, Anne, 29, Christ, 24, Even, 17, and a 9 year-old adopted daughter named Maria Olson. Maria had been born in Minnesota and her father in Norway. Everyone else in the household had been born in Norway.

He was 91 year-old Even Hollen, living with his son Even in Kerkhoven Twp, in the 1895 Minnesota state census.

In his marriage record he is shown as age 30 and his father seems to be Even Anderson Ellingboe.

He farms Pladsen, Vang, in the 1865 census. The household consists of Jørgen, 63, Anne, 62, Even, 26, Anders, 13, Sigri, 21, and Ole Evensson, 74. Everyone other than Jørgen and Anne are unmarried. Even and Ole are tailors.
