      In the January, 1958, alumni magazine: “Dr. Lee Christenson is an intern at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. Mrs. Christenson is the former Ruth Ellingboe.”

      Leland Roger Christenson, age 85, of Laporte, MN passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 19, 2016 with his family by his side.  He was born on September 11, 1930 in Forada, MN the son of Phillip and Amy (Sorlum) Christenson.   ??Lee grew up and graduated from Marshall High School in 1948.  Following high school he attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.  Lee decided to take a break from St. Olaf to join the Naval Academy Cadet Training.  Upon returning to school, he graduated with a degree in Chemistry and Biology.  Lee furthered his schooling by attending the University of Minnesota Medical School and graduated with a Doctorate in 1957.  He took his degree and started a family practice in Maple Plain, MN.  In his time there he was proud of the fact that he had delivered over a thousand babies.  In 1973 he joined the staff at the North Memorial Medical Center as an emergency physician and was there until he and Ruth moved to Laporte.  He continued to be an E.R. Doc in St. Cloud.  Lee eventually became the medical director for Ah Gwah Ching Nursing Home until his retirement.  Along with his lengthy career, Lee was also an author, a playwright, an actor, musician, environmentalist and a philosopher. ??The family that Lee joins again are his parents; Phillip and Amy, brother; Dennis, daughter; Julie and grandson; Matthew. ??Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years; Biddie “Ruth” Christenson, son; Todd (Cally) Christenson, daughter; Berit (Ric) Allison, grandchildren; Lucas (Brittany)  Kit, and Chris (Linda) one great granddaughter; Avery. ?
