    Born in Crystal Falls, he moved to Grand Haven after graduating from Ferris State University. He was employed by Keller Tool/Gardner Denver/Cooper Industries. He later worked for Teledyne Co. in Muskegon and then for Michigan Plastic Co. in Grand Haven. He retired from Diesel Technology of Kentwood as a manufacturing engineer in the field of tool engineering. He was a member of Second Reformed Church in Grand Haven where he served as a deacon.

    Surviving are his wife, Mary; children, William and Shelly Ellingboe of Spring Lake, Peter and Brenda Ellingboe of Holland, and Paul Ellingboe of Grand Haven; three grandchildren; a brother, W.L. and Marie Ellingboe of Ferrysburg; a sister- and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Richard Peel of Spring Lake, and Peter and Mary Ann Floto of Washington, D.C.

    A private family service will be Monday at the Lee Chapel of Lake Forest Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Jean officiating. Visiting is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home, 620 Washington St., Grand Haven.

    Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.

    Thomas William Ellingboe, age 69, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, September 6, 2007, while the birds were singing in the sky. It was his time to die.

    Thomas was born April 16, 1938, in Crystal Falls, MI, to Lloyd and Lucille (Doucette) Ellingboe. He married the former Mary J. Floto on May 26, 1962, in Grand Haven. She survives him along with three sons: William Thomas (Shelly) Ellingboe of Spring Lake, Peter J. (Brenda) Ellingboe of Holland, and Paul (special friend Kathi Saurbaugh) of Grand Haven; two grandsons, Noah and Nicholas Ellingboe; a granddaughter, Brittany Posma; a brother, W.L. (Marie) Ellingboe of Ferrysburg; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Richard) Peel of Spring Lake; a brother-in-law, Peter (Mary Ann) Floto of Washington D.C.; and his English Springer Spaniel and special companion, Johdee. He was preceded in death by his parents.

    Thomas came to Grand Haven after graduating from Ferris State University in 1960. He was employed by Keller Tool/Gardner Denver/Cooper Industries. He later worked for Teledyne Co. in Muskegon and then for Michigan Plastic Co. in Grand Haven. He retired from Diesel Technology of Kentwood as a manufacturing engineer in the field of tool engineering. Thomas was an excellent chef, an avid deer hunter (along with his sons), and a pheasant hunter (along with his dog). He especially enjoyed fishing for salmon out of the Grand Haven harbor with his family on his boat. He was a member of Second Reformed Church in Grand Haven where he served as a deacon.

    A private family service will be held on Monday, September 10, 2007, at the Lee Chapel of Lake Forest Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Jean officiating. Friends may meet the family 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.

    Thomas married Mary Joyce FLOTO on 26 May 1962 in Grand Haven, Ottawa County, Michigan. Mary was born on 1 Mar 1934 in Michigan; died on 2 Dec 2023 in Michigan; was buried in Lake Forest Cemetery, Grand Haven, Ottawa County, Michigan. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
