In the 1900 census, he was Gilbert Digen, a newly-married banker living with his new wife and his mother in McLean County, North Dakota.

In the 1910 census, he was Gilbert M. Digen, a real estate agent living at 3108 Pleasant Ave. in Minneapolis.

Living at 4115 Wentworth Avenue in Minneapolis at the time of the 1914 son’s death.

He registered for the draft at North High School in Minneapolis on September 12, 1918, as Gilbert Martin Digen. He was a self-employed farmer in Anoka. He and Lillibelle lived at 811 Sheridan Avenue in north Minneapolis. He was short and of medium build with blue eyes and a bald head.

In the 1920 census, he was Gilbert Digen, a farmer in Fridley, Minnesota.

In the 1930 census, he and Lillie were living in Miami, Dade County, Florida, in a rented apartment. Gilbert was a janitor in an office building. Lillie was an apartment manager.

In the 1935 Florida state census, he and his wife lived at 220 S.W. 31st Avenue in Miami, Dade County. He is 61, has a college education, was born in Minnesota, and was the owner of a real estate brokerage business.

In the 1940 census, he, as Gilbert Digen, and Lilli Belle lived in Dade County, Florida. He was a night watchman. He was a high school graduate, his wife had two years of high school.

Gilbert married Lillibelle (Lillie) DUPREY on 14 Sep 1899 in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Lillibelle (daughter of BERTHEAUME) was born on 24 Jul 1879 in Minnesota; died on 21 Mar 1944 in Los Angeles County, California. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

In the 1900 census she was a widow living with her son and daughter-in-law in McLean County, North Dakota.

In the 1910 census, she is probably the Anna “Dicen”, a 72 year-old widow boarding with the James Hanson household in Minneapolis. That Anna had had only one child, and that child was still living.

She died of a pulmonary hemorrhage. Her son Gilbert M, of 905 in the Met Life Building in Minneapolis, was the informant for her death certificate. Anna’s address was 1724 5th Street NE.

As Mekel Haraldsen in the 1801 census, he was a gbr on Braterud. He was 42 years old, his wife Randj Knudsdatter was 25, and they had on child, Anne Mekelsdatter, age 2. Also in their household was Sofie Andersdatter, 22, a maid, and Anne Mekelsdatter, Mekel’s widowed mother, age 77.

There was another Mekel Haroldsen living on Braterud in the 1801 census. He was age 52 and his wife was the 42 year-old Kirsti Syversdatter. _That_ Mekel had a 6 year-old son Harold Mekelsen. Could Harald T have had two sons named Mekel?? Julia Duraso’s Field/Anderson Family Tree says that he did! (The mother of Harald T’s wife, Anne Mikjelsdatter, was Dorte Mikkelsdatter.)

Mikjel married Rangdi Knudsdatter SKINNRUD in 1794 in Sør-Aurdal i Valdres, Oppland, Norway.
